Title: Senior System Engineer
Location: Blacksburg, VA
Job Type: Full Time/Permanent
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9-hour shifts and half day Friday's
Job Description:
As a Senior System Engineer, you will be responsible for the system design of complex rotary servo motion assemblies for harsh environments and high-reliability applications in military and aerospace markets. This will involve establishing concepts and requirements across various engineering disciplines including mechanical, structural dynamics, electrical, thermal, and rotary motion, leading to the development of integrated electromechanical and motion systems. You will apply fundamental engineering principles to predict system-level performance of different approaches and select the optimal solution for specific applications. The role also involves leading an integrated product development team to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
System design of complex rotary servo motion assemblies for high-reliability applications.
Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, thermal, etc.) to develop integrated electromechanical systems.
Predict system-level performance and select the optimal approach to specific applications.
Lead product development teams to ensure timely project completion.
Track project progress and report status to senior management.
Understand and interpret customer specifications and requirements.
Prepare statements of work and product specifications.
Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers and customers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
5 years of experience in the design and analysis of precision electromechanical equipment (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Strong experience in mechanical design/packaging, with excellent electrical and analytical skills.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (UG NX is desirable).
Experience with motion simulations and knowledge of motion control techniques.
