DATA ANALYST (GIS) Feb 2022 - Aug 2023
@ Canada Post, Toronto, ON, Canada, Onsite Deputation via Adecco

GIS Analyst Role -
Performed complex Geospatial Analysis on Canada’s municipal, provincial and federal Data. Worked with ArcGIS/MSSQL to analyze client's demands and used various geo-processing & network analyst tools.
Ran Analysis on vector data like points/addresses, line/route, polygon/parcel Shapefiles and SQL scripts on SDE/relational geodatabase to study relationships between geographic and geo- demographic Data (Environics, PRIZM etc.)
The objective of the project was that our clients can mail their customers, the marketing & promotional “Fliers” conditioning on specific address, postal codes, and street segments. Our clients would be private companies, Government or election campaigns.
After performing analysis, delivered these clients a csv List of target customers, new layer of route shapefiles, their Ids in output files, customized reports with graphs & maps (either static or dynamic distribution Maps for visualization). This had to be delivered with tight deadlines and low errors in QC. Within the last 6 months, my average analysis time was reduced from 5 days to 2 days providing output to the clients, way before the due date.
Discussed to & fro with the Business Analysis team (Pre & Post-GIS Analysis team) about the changing spatial patterns, ensuring my spatial analysis was in-line with the client requirement as every client had different needs.

GIS Verification/Administration Role -
I ensured that initial data coming from the Business Analysis team was in correct format, and that a link is established between both data, so that data can be moved forward for doing spatial analysis by my team.

ANALYST (GIS) Feb 2014 - Nov 2019
@ Google Inc, Bangalore, India
Onsite Deputation via-
1. GlobalLogic Technologies as a ‘Specialist-GIS’
2. Cognizant Solutions as Senior Process Executive - GIS

GIS Analysis & Technical Support Role -
Google Maps Gallery was Google’s own portal to publish customized maps. Provided technical support to customers who used this portal. Achieved a closing rate of initially ~75% increasing to ~90%, & a quality score of more than 85%, each week on the case tickets.
Also, published and maintained data/maps on this portal. Before publishing, extracted data from various open data sources, then compiled, cleaned, validated, and edited this data. If the data was in non-geospatial formats like CSV, excel and spreadsheets, geocoded the latitudes/longitudes and addresses into spatial format like KML and shapefile. Used QGIS/ArcGIS for this process and FME if the data was huge.
Added this data on Google Maps Engine (similar to ArcGIS Online). Gave a suitable coordinate system and formatted, designed and customized this data using HTML which then got transformed into a Map Template. Verified accuracy and completeness of the map for high quality and then ultimately loaded this map on the Google Maps Gallery portal.

Quality Control and Lead Role -
Performed quality assurance/quality checks on satellite images that were before and after being purchased from Google's vendors, basically at every stage in the pipeline.
When purchasing new satellite images from the buyers, the team had to manually check for any duplicate images taking up significant time of the team members. I designed a tool in QGIS process modeler/ESRI Model Builder that partly automated the process workflow. Along with saving time for the team members, this tool also helped avoid the purchase of duplicate images ultimately saving ~10% of the annual cost for the Google Maps India team.
During the last stage of the pipeline I also was responsible for adding the improved images into Live Google Maps using SQL. I consistently achieved an error rate of less than 0.001%. These are the same images that are visible in Google Maps “Satellite” mode on your phone.
Fixed 8-10 bugs each week based on user feedback, so that higher quality images were loaded in the pipeline each time.
Led a team of 5-6 Qcers temporarily. Monitored & reviewed QC/QC performance, supervised new joinees and created monthly process related questionnaires. Also documented some methodologies.
