Job Description: [1] Oversee the database design and development to ensure it conforms with best practices and defined company standards, and establish database architectural design standards and ensure adherence to these standards; [2] Identify the data to be collected, analyzed, developed and administered, and organize database requirements by (1) interviewing end-users, (2) analyzing department applications, programming, and operations, and (3) evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems; [3] Be responsible for maintaining database performance by (1) calculating optimum values for database parameters, (2) implementing new releases, (3) completing maintenance requirements, and (4) evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products; [4] Inspect and maintain the daily management of Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure and assure service availability; and [5] Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications; and installs revised or new systems by (1) proposing specifications and flowcharts, (2) recommending optimum access techniques, and (3) coordinating installation requirements.
