This position is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment by executing expertise in the servicing and repairing of our highway maintenance fleet and complying with provincial requirements.

Job Duties:
• Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems.
• Locate faults and malfunctions on equipment and truck and trailers in the shop and field calls when required.
• Inspects, repairs and maintains our fleet of equipment including electrical and electronic systems.
• Engines including fuel, exhaust, intake and emission controls; transmissions, clutches, drive shafts and axles.
• Body and trim, frames and hitching/coupling systems.
• Steering, suspension and computer control systems.
• Tires, wheels and hubs.
• Braking systems including air supply and hydraulic, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Install, adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance work.

Skills Required:
• Team player, organized, reliable.
• Manual dexterity, hand-to-eye coordination.
• Preventative Maintenance Programs;
• Computer diagnostics and electrical components;
• Heavy equipment hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, suspension, and steering;
• Knowledge of CAN BUS, fabrication and welding is considered an asset;
• Good knowledge of trade related worksite safety;
• Able to work with industry related heavy-duty equipment such as gravel trucks, plow trucks, winter maintenance attachments, loaders, grader, sweepers, mowers, backhoes, etc.
• Must be able to obtain Driving License.
• Must be able to obtain Trade Certificate.

Experience Required:
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience (preferably in repairing and maintaining highway maintenance fleets).
• Truck & Coach Mechanic license an asset

Education Required:
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or a vocational program or equivalent experience.

Wage & Hours: $38.49/ hr
• Number of hours per day: 8
• Number of days per week: 5
• Number of hours per week: 40
• Overtime starts after how many hours: 44 hours per week
• Shift rotation: May be required during peak or emergency situations.
