Payroll Analyst (Hybrid - Columbia, SC)
As a part of the Human Resources Payroll Team and under general supervision of the Payroll Manager the Payroll Analyst works closely with HR, finance, and other departments to provide precise payroll information and exceptional service to employees. This role encompasses a comprehensive understanding of payroll systems, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues. The payroll analyst works collaboratively across departments to enhance processes and maintain high service standards for our business partners and employees.
The role involves analyzing and auditing payroll data, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and supporting continuous improvements in payroll processing.
What you'll do
- Support the day-to-day payroll functions for organizations of 5000+ employees over 32 associations across 32 FEINs ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing and internal controls.
- Resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
- Preparing data and calculations for processing payroll adjustments
- Prepares and reconciles monthly reports including researching and adjusting discrepancies
- Balance multi-company payroll for quarterly and annual reporting.
- Responsible for year-end closing and timely distribution of W-2 forms
- Ability to anticipate problems and provide solutions or develop contingencies
- Stay up to date with U.S. payroll regulations, payroll tax laws, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations and timely payroll tax setup and filings.
- Partner with Benefits, Accounting, HR Technology, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes
- Process data entry for multi-state payroll under strict deadlines while ensuring all entries and system outputs follow all state and federal laws
What you'll need
- Bachelor's in Accounting/Business degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5+ years processing multi-state payroll and comprehensive understanding of payroll systems, compliance, and data analysis
- Certifications: FPP or CPP
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge of FLSA hours and wage regulations
- Adept at leveraging analytical skills and attention to detail to address discrepancies
