Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Mechanic to join our team in the Toronto office, focusing on the manufacturing and maintenance of packaging equipment and automation systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electrical systems, automation technology, and troubleshooting, ensuring our equipment operates efficiently and complies with industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct assembly, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs and testing on electro-mechanical and pneumatic components of new packaging and automation systems to ensure smooth functioning, including packing and jointing, generators, electrical and industrial switchgears, PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, and control panels.
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs and rebuild/redesign electrical equipment in case of numerous issues affecting machinery operations to ensure the functionality, reliability and longevity of electrical and automation systems.
• Replace faulty wiring, tubes, shafts and commutators in a timely manner, as needed.
• Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new packaging, automation, shop floor and line tracking technologies.
• Conduct weekly maintenance of machinery to ensure precision and consistency of production.
• Participate in the upgrading of existing equipment and systems to enhance performance and incorporate new technologies.
• Report to management on any safety hazards related to the manufacturing process of electrical components in order to address them in a timely manner.
• Work closely with mechanical engineers, automation specialists, and production personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.
• Perform all above-mentioned duties ensuring adherence to electrical standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications, and ensure all technical documentation is current and accessible.
• Provide technical support and training to team members and operators on the operation and maintenance of electrical and automation systems.
• Engage in initiatives aimed at improving equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance processes to enhance overall operational efficiency.


Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in electrical maintenance and automation within the packaging industry or related sectors (medical and food industries).
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
• Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and safety standards (e.g., FDA, ISO).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, electrical systems, and varying temperatures.
• May require occasional overtime or on-call availability for emergency repairs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
• Permanent, full-time position
• Start date: as soon as possible
• 6-month probation period
• $38.00 per hour for 40 hours per week
• Overtime may be required and will be paid at 1.5 of your regular hourly rate after 44 hours per week
• 2 weeks of paid vacation
• Eligibility for enrolment in the company health and benefit program, effective after three months from your start date
