Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Education:
o High School Diploma
o Completion of welding training programs (industrial welding and non-destructive method penetrant liquid training course) or equivalent experience and knowledge required
- Minimum Experience Requirements:
o At least two years of welding experience
o Demonstrate ability and experience designing and welding custom metal components for use on landscaping trucks and trailers.
o Demonstrate ability to weld and repair automotive parts and tools made of different metals such as carbon steel, cast iron, magnesium, aluminum and stainless steel.
o Demonstrate ability to weld with different welding processes such as SMAW(shield metal arc welding) GTAW(gas tungsten arc welding) GMAW(gas metal arc welding) and Brazing.
o Demonstrate ability to operate Oxy-acetylene and plasma-arc cutting equipment.
o Demonstrate ability to read and execute isometric blueprints.
o Demonstrate ability to operate measurement tools.
o Demonstrate ability to realize Liquid penetrant inspections on welding, tools and equipment.
- Personal and Physical Attributes:
o Able to climb stairs and short ladders.
o Able to lift up to 25kg.
Job Duties:
• Design, build and install customized metal parts and components for use on landscaping trucks and trailers.
• Design and weld metal components for fencing.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and welding process specifications to conduct repairs, maintain metal tools/equipment and vehicle boxes.
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as SMAW (shield metal arc welding), GMAW(gas metal arc welding) and GTAW(gas tungsten arc welding).
• Operate flame-cutting equipment such as Oxy-acetylene and Plasma-arc cutting.
• Operate brazing and soldering equipment
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
• Repair worn parts of metal tools and equipment such as shovels, earth auger, backhoe buckets and industrial tree spades by welding on extra layers with oxy-acetylene welding and SMAW (shield metal arc welding) methods.
• Replace backhoe bucket’s teeth by flame-cutting and welding with SMAW (shield metal arc welding) method.
• Inspect proper welding by Non-destructive liquid penetrant testing method.
• Inspect crane hooks by Non-destructive liquid penetrant testing method.
• Ensure safety for self, other employees, and visitors in the business space by adhering to safety protocols and procedures
• Acquire and maintain stocks of welding materials such as electrodes, TIG consumables, filler rods, MIG wire, gas cylinders, plasma-arc cutting machine parts and liquid penetrant testing sprays.
• Acquire and maintain stocks of metal sheets, tubes, bars and angles.
