Job Description:

Position Overview Senior Electronic Assemblers

These positions are responsible for producing products and components by assembling parts and subassemblies and serves as a technical expert, trainer and may serve as work cell lead for one or more work cells coordinating the work of others. Operates automated industrial production and processing machinery in a safe and efficient manner. This position works under minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

· Executes assembly sequence duties consistently meeting productivity and quality expectations

· Assemble parts according to work instruction, verbal instruction, drawings, and/or diagrams

· Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements

· Loads materials and products into package processing equipment; weighs materials to ensure compliance with specifications

· Obtains, moves, sorts, and labels material, and containers

· Measures product or component dimensions

· Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to verify equipment is operating within defined parameters and operational standards without compromising quality requirements.

· May perform machine preventive maintenance procedures and operational troubleshooting

· May serve as quality designate

· Operates automation machinery at or above the engineering standard without compromising quality requirements

· Serves as technical expert within the production work cell and trained cross functionally in all aspects of production

· Responsible for training of operators on all aspects of production within the assigned work cell(s) and maintaining/updating training records

· Interacts with engineering and production support staff regarding equipment or process issues

· May coordinate the work of others and reassign as needed to ensure efficient utilization of personnel in meeting production schedules

· May serve as work cell lead in one or more assembly cells

Local Essential Functions and Key Result Accountabilities

· Perform hands on production and assembly functions.

· Assemble, replace components and rework products per assembly process specifications.

· Determines method and sequence of assembly operations.

· Ability to use measurement tools and compare measurements to schematic / drawings.

· Conduct product testing utilizing Multimeters, Hypot and other standard test equipment.

· Understand and follow assembly instructions as given by Assembly Supervisor.

· Inspect work in progress to documented quality standards and perform random audits in assigned areas.

· Meet quality standard of the company.

· Responsible for assigned area metrics, documentation logs and KPI board.

· Assist with training team members.

· Act as a back up to team lead when required.

· Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the lighting assembly field.

· Continue training in new processes and products.

· Other duties as assigned.


· High School education or GED preferred.


· Minimum two years’ experience working in a production environment

· Previous quality inspection experience desired

· Previous automated manufacturing machinery experience preferred

· Technical expert in one or more work cells

· Proficient across several work cells


· Ability to read, understand, and navigate through online assembly process documents

· Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting and measuring

· Ability to read drawings & blueprints

· Ability to safely utilize assembly tools as appropriate for the successful completion of production tasks

· Ability to communicate and follow instructions effectively both verbally and in written format

· Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards

· Ability to multi-task

· Ability to communicate and interact with support personnel from engineering and/or quality to resolve issues related to products, production equipment and/or assembly processes.

· Ability to demonstrate flexibility

· Ability to work independently

· Ability to competently coordinate the work of others

· Ability to successfully train others

Physical Demands

· This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees

· Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn

· Eye and foot protection may have to be worn

· There is potential for lifting weights up to 45 lbs.
