Objective: I would like to continue working in the defense of the US either as a GS employee or as a contractor with the Department of Defense. I have 20 years of command and control experience using both ground and airborne radar systems. Have held several flight commander and assistant director of operation positions. I have several years experience planning and executing joint/bilateral exercises. I would like to work in Japan, Arizona, Nevada or Alaska.
Experience: Instructor Air Battle Manager/Exchange Officer, Komaki, AB, Japan. (October 2004 –present). Selectively manned, bilingual position at a Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) base. Provides classroom and on-scope instruction to JSDF students. Develops and presents academic lectures in Japanese.
Student, Japanese Language School, Kichijoji, Japan. (October 2003 – September 2004).
Commander, Exercise Flight, 605 AOS/ HQ 5th Air Force, Yokota Japan. (June 2002 – September 2003) Managed the overall planning and execution of the 5 AF exercise program in Japan. Responsible for integrating multi-service/bilateral training and exercise activities in order to accomplish 5 AF’s wartime mission. Planned, coordinated, and oversaw joint/bilateral Field Training and Command Post exercises with the JASDF and US Units in the 5 AF area of responsibility.
Commander, Operations Flight/Assistant Chief, Current Operations, 605 AOS/ HQ 5th Air Force, Yokota Japan. (October 2000 – May 2002). Lead the 5 AF staff responsible for USAF operations in Japan in peace and US current air operations in war. Lead wartime Air Operations Center (AOC) staff of 35 responsible for joint/bilateral air and space operations through the effective execution of air tasking orders in support of the Joint Forces Component Commander air campaign. Chief; E-767 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), Operating Location Alpha, Hamamatsu, AB, Japan. (March 1998 – September 2000). Managed the integration of the one of a kind $2.8 billion, high priority JASDF E-767 AWACS weapons system into the Japan Self Defense Forces, US Forces Japan, and the USPACOM air order of battle. Supervised seven member AWACS integration team. Charged with all aspects of developing effective operational concepts, unique training programs, managing mission employment issue and system and software configuration for the E-767 AWACS. Ensured joint interoperability of Japan’s AWACS with any US or regional multilateral forces.

Assistant Operations Officer-Training, 966 Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK. (January 1997 – February 1998). Assisted the operations officer in leading and managing 51 Officers and 119 enlisted personnel in the largest PFT program in ACC, conducting IQT and upgrade training in the E-3 AWACS and TC-18E Flight Crew Trainer. Coordinated manning requirements and aircrew syllabus changes. Directed real-time changes to daily schedule to maximize student and crewmember training effectiveness.
Flight Commander, 966 Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK. (January 1995 – December 1996). Commanded, directed, and lead 22 AWACS aircrew instructors. Managed the implementation of HQ ACC’s second largest PFT for initial qualification training for computer display maintenance, airborne radar operators and instructor computer display maintenance and airborne radar technician students.
E-3 AWACS, Senior Director, 964 Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK. (January 1994 – December 1994). Managed and lead the AWACS weapons director (WD) team in the tactical employment of all assigned aircraft within the area of responsibility of the AWACS aircraft. Planned and coordinated fighter activity, directed the air battle and committed weapons to neutralize hostile threats for combatant commander-directed exercises and real-world contingencies. Coordinated with external agencies for flight safety and mission accomplishment.
E-3 AWACS, Weapons Director, 964 Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK. (March 1992 – December 1993). Directed air-to-air intercepts, refueling and tactical air-to-ground aircraft engaged in both exercise and contingency operations. Executed national security objectives relating to air surveillance/defense.
OIC, Operations Training, Det 2, 623 Tactical Control Squadron, Misawa, AB, Japan. (March 1989 – February 1992). Managed air weapons director/technician initial upgrade and continuation training for all operations personnel.
Weapons Director, 621 Tactical Control Squadron, Osan AB, ROK. (March 1988 – February 1989). Provided radar monitor and control for USAF and allied aircraft in the Republic of Korea. Ensured the control and protection of extremely sensitive Joint Chiefs of Staff directed Peacetime Aerial Reconnaissance Program intelligence gathering flights along the Korean demilitarized zone. Responsible for preventing friendly aircraft from unintentional over flight of restricted areas, prohibited areas and non-friendly borders.

I have over 15 years of instructor experience in ground radar systems, airborne radar systems and the formal school environment. I have several years experience in planning and executing joint and bilateral flying training and command post exercises.
