•Established Budgets at Rough Order of Magnitude / Cost Appraisal & Grass Roots Bid Levels for Electronic Equipment used world-wide in Disney Theme Parks. Systems included Audio/Video, Show Controls for Audioanimatronic © figures, Lighting Controls (All over an I.P. Network) and Ride Controls using dual PLC's.
•Research for these Budgetary Undertakings included Interviewing Engineers for Input to Determine Scope & Design Intent – Often up to Two Years in Advance of Drawing Releases to Enable Accurate & Complete Budget Figures.
•This Required Intimate Knowledge of Electronic Systems Designs in Wide Variety of Applications at Disney - For Example: For Several Smaller Attractions in Fantasyland, in Hong Kong Disneyland, was able to accurately “Design” and estimate the hardware required for the ride controls systems using only an equipment-type list, motor size, and series-type of PLC Equipment.
•Used SAP ERP Historical Purchasing Records, Vendor Quotes, Price Lists, Internet Pricing & Engineering Drawings to Develop Labor & Material Estimates in a Work Breakdown Structure.
•Consulted with Engineering & Production Staff upon Completion of Estimates to Obtain “Stake Ownership” then Presented to Director and VP Levels for Approvals.
•Electronic Equipment Ranged from Several Thousand to Several Million Dollars per Attraction. On Several very Large Projects, the Estimates were within less than 1% Accuracy.
•Performed Division-Wide Estimate Roll Ups with up to Fifty Disciplines Outside the Electronics Arena. This Required Familiarity of Each Department’s Operations & Processes as Well as the Interdependencies on Each Other to Ensure that Costs were Neither Duplicated, nor Left Out.
•Regularly acted as Supervisor whenever the normal Supervisor was out of office.
•Maintained Excel Estimating Templates / Trained Others to Estimate & to Use Excel [Resulting in One Temporary Worker to being Offered a Full Time Position as an Estimator]
•Performed as Local Resource for General PC Questions / Troubleshooting & Occasionally Made Recommendations for Hardware/Software Purchases at Departmental Level
