1976-1996 The Ensign-Bickford Company – Commercial and Military Specialty Explosives
As Plant Manager with an annual budget of $23,000,000.00 I supervised areas of Production, Quality Control, Marketing, Human Resources, Maintenance and Safety/Compliance.
I assigned to the Just-In-Time Task Force for the purpose of reducing in-process inventory from two weeks to two minutes. First year savings of $1,900,000.00 were realized.
Assigned to Branch Plant Operations to construct and make operational three branch plants located in the United States and Mexico.
Development of Process Safety Management in order to comply with OSHA mandated compliance requirements. Generated MSDS’s for various explosives products.
Having received three Ensign-Bickford Awards for Excellence for the introduction of Just-In-Time to all manufacturing departments; development of the Hourly Employee Recognition Program and creation of the Safety Circle Program.
Upon retiring from Ensign-Bickford 11 Direct Supervisors were reporting to me and 350 hourly employees reporting to my Direct Supervisors.
