Objective: I am looking for a challenging position in day-to-day control of a software house, R&D group, or IT department; or a position as a part-time non-executive director of a small hi-tech company. I can either work as a company trouble-shooter or help to establish a start-up in most locations worldwide. I will be attracted by, and most useful in, a position with a strategic input and tactical control of processes, procedures, deadlines and budgets for all parts of the SDLC including quality control.
Experience: I have had two positions at director/CTO level. I have a high staff training and retention rate. I am able to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical people and am able to speak to anyone on their terms, including customers, suppliers and the press with my technical, yet pragmatic, approach. This means that I can command the respect of both technical and non-technical people. My position as senior manager/director is built upon previous hands-on work at the highest technical level including kernel/operating system modification. Until recently I was the head of development of a multi-national firewall/security company, providing the strategy, do to day leadership and co-ordination for all the technical resources, team leaders and project managers within the company for all parts of the SDLC, support, hardware manufacture and procurement and I am looking for a similar position. I have experience with responsibilities for the management of the resources and development in a number of countries, including offshore. I have had responsibility for the delivery of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget, setting the quality process, and mentoring staff and team leads to abide with best practice in software development. I am able to motivate myself and those around me and set goals and deadlines both for myself and those around me to achieve results. I have had a few months off work, studying for my part-time master's. This is now well enough on track that I can begin to look for work again.
Education: 3 degrees and a postgraduate diploma.
