Experience: Aug 97 - Present - BJ Services - District Manager
In 1997 I joined BJ Services as a District Operations Manager for the coiled tubing and Stimulation Department in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. My responsibilities had initially included:
- Managing all coiled tubing, stimulation and nitrogen land operations and personnel. - Developing new business and introducing new technology in the fields of Coiled Tubing, Nitrogen and Stimulation - Executing and assisting in the preparation of new tenders and contracts - Assuming and improving on the Financial, Quality and Safety responsibilities within the company - Liaising with the client on contractual, safety, quality and operational issues.
During the period between 1997 and 2000 I spent some time combining as both Operations Manager for the Coiled Tubing and Stimulation Department and as Technical Manager. Some of my additional responsibilities as Technical Manager included:
- Overseeing the running of the Cement/Stimulation laboratory - Compiling Cement and Stimulation programs - Managing a team of Engineers and Laboratory Technicians - Discussing operational issues and needs with clients
In January of 2000 I was given the position of Senior District Operations Manager. This position was a prelude to becoming District Manager. I had assumed the role and responsibilities of the District Manager until I received the title in November 2001. The responsibilities in this position included:
- Managing a work force of approximately 300 personnel - Managing the day to day running of the company base and operations - Compiling new tenders and contracts - Ensuring the company HSE and Quality procedures were adhered to - Introducing new training programs for our local personnel - Performing presentations for clients in new technologies, company statistics and Quality meetings - Controlling costs and improving on generated revenues
In November 2001 at my request I was transferred to West Africa as the District Manager for Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. My Responsibilities included:
- Managing all operational and engineering personnel in the District - Managing the day to day running of the company base and operations - Compiling new tenders and contracts - Ensuring the company HSE and Quality procedures were adhered to - Increasing our local personnel content and implementing the required training for these personnel - Performing presentations for clients in new technologies, company statistics and Quality meetings - Controlling costs and improving on generated revenues
Whilst I was in this position we managed to secure contracts with some major Oil Companies in the Cementing, Stimulation, Nitrogen and Coiled Tubing product lines. Our revenue during this period increased significantly into a highly profitable District.
July 94 - July 97 - Transocean - Operations Manager
I joined Transocean as Operations Engineer in 1994. We had been a small group and I therefore doubled as Operations Supervisor whilst we expanded our company. My responsibilities included:
- Preparing equipment and organizing personnel for offshore operations - Liaising with the client with regards to their needs and requirements - Supervising onshore personnel - Improving Quality and Safety within our organization - Controlling costs - Preparing offshore programs for a variety of operations - Introducing and assisting in bringing new technology to the client (e.g. Coiled Tubing Deployment System, Coiled Tubing Drilling etc) - Performing simulations for offshore operations
In 1996 I was promoted to Operations Manager until my departure in 1997. My responsibilities included:
- Managing the offshore and onshore groups within our company - Developing new business - Executing and assisting in the preparation of new tenders and contracts - Assuming and improving on the Financial, Quality and Safety responsibilities of my position - Liaising with the client on contractual, safety, quality and operational issues.
During my time at Transocean as part of the team we increased the business from two to six operational coiled tubing units. Successfully acquired several major contracts. And were successful in bringing and executing new technological advances within the industry.
July 90 - June 94 - Salvesen Well Services - Operations Supervisor
Started with Salvesen in 1990 and worked as an operator in the pumping, nitrogen and coiled tubing fields. During this period I had supervised many of these operations. In 1992 I began supervising all types of operations as stated above. My responsibilities during this time included:
- Operating all types of equipment (pumping, nitrogen and coiled tubing) - Liaising with the client offshore - Preparing equipment for offshore operations - Supervising the offshore crew in all types of operations - Preparing and executing various types of operations [e.g. N2 operations with and without coiled tubing, pumping operations with and without coiled tubing, variety of coiled tubing operations (e.g. cementing through coiled tubing, tubing cutting, milling, stimulation through coiled tubing, setting packers on coiled tubing, sand cleanouts etc)]
In 1993 I was given the position of onshore Operations Supervisor until my departure in 1994. During this period my responsibilities included:
- Preparing equipment and organizing personnel for offshore operations - Liaising with the client with regards to their needs and requirements - Supervising onshore personnel - Improving Quality and Safety within our organization - Controlling costs - Liaising and assisting the engineering department in preparation of our offshore operations. - Daily reporting and logistics
Jan 80 - Jun 90 - Halliburton - Dual Service Operator
Started with Halliburton in their cementing department. Worked as a Trainee Cementer initially. Began Cementing in 1983 and worked through the cementing grades within Halliburton until 1985 when I became a Dual Service Operator through to my departure in 1990. My responsibilities during this time included:
- Operating Cementing Equipment - Liaising with the client offshore - Preparing and executing cementing operations offshore - Liaising with supervisory personnel onshore - Running a variety of downhole tools (e.g. packers, bridge plugs, cement retainers, storm valves etc)
Joined the Stimulation Department in 1987. My responsibilities during this time included:
- Assisting on a variety of Stimulation Operations [e.g. Gravel Packing, Acid Stimulation, Fracturing, N2 Operations (gas lifting and N2 displacements), Leak testing etc] - Went on to supervising above types of operations ensuring equipment and chemical requirements were onsite. - Liaising with the client - Preparation and executing of all types of Stimulation operations
