Experience: Experience
June 2004-March 2006 Lansing Community Papers, Charlotte, MI/Lansing, MI Circulation Manager. Responsibilities include all aspects of management of community newspaper including promotion, payroll, human resources, carrier recruitment, customer service and all pertaining duties. In July 005 we were merged with Lansing State Journal where my duties have remained the same.
July 2001-March 2004 The Argus Press, Owosso, MI Circulation Manager/Newspapers in Education (NIE)Director. Responsibilities included day to day operations of department, Managing over 70 carriers including Motor and foot routes, hiring, training, payroll, employee evaluations. Also implemented new compensation procedure to streamline pay rates for routes. Redrew districts and combined routes and expanded into new areas. Designed and implemented newspaper sales promotions. Added new dealers and racks thereby doubling single copy sales and cutting return rate 10%. Handled all purchasing and inventory control of circulation and mail room supplies and came in under budget every year. Set up NIE program which distributed free newspapers to classrooms with an average of over 400 per day, organized and distributed teachers guides to schools. Obtained thousands of dollars from sponsors for the NIE program. And other duties as needed.
Sept. 1999-July 2001 Leader Publications, Niles, MI. Circulation Director. Earned promotion in 2001 by demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to do the job. Duties include managing circulation for five papers, supervising carriers, organizing routes, preparing payroll information, accounting, distribution of Leaders and Daily Star’s, handling of complaints, customer billing, supervision of over 60 employees.
March 1998-Sept. 1999 Herald Palladium, Benton Harbor, MI. District Sales Manager. Responsibilities included personnel, payroll, accounting, customer service supervision and management of 12 foot route and 18 motor route carriers. Area from Benton Harbor to state line Dowagiac to Lake Michigan areas. Circulation of around 6500 plus Shoppers Guide of around 10,000.
