Steel Parts Corporation March 2000-January 2004

Steel Parts Corporation is a tier 1 automotive metal stamping facility servicing such customers as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Delphi and Trelleborg Automotive. The primary products are clutch plates for automatic transmissions, drawn and wrapped bushings, and steering column brackets. 2003 sales volume was $62 million with an operating inventory of $4.3 million.
Manager of Material Control:
Responsible for management of all Supply Chain functions, including Planning, Scheduling, Inventory Control, Shipping and Customer Service. Set the departmental budget, directives, and goals in line with corporate and customer expectations. Responsible for customer interaction regarding plant performance, product launches, and supply chain challenges in conjunction with VP of Sales and VP/General Manager.
Accomplishments:
Ø Implemented new scheduling system to provide enhanced product, tool, material, and manning visibility throughout the supply chain, interfacing MRPII system and MS Access.
Ø Implemented visual Kanban system utilizing customer requirements to manage flow of material and work orders on the shop floor.
Ø Increased inventory turns by 70% through the practice and implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies and education of shop floor personnel.
Ø Facilitated improvements in inventory tracking allowing Steel Parts to realize 99.9% inventory accuracy for 2001 and 99.2% for 2002.
Ø Developed Materials Management Operation Manual using guidelines set forth by AIAG, MMOG, QS9000, and ISO14001 standards.
Ø Facilitated successful automation of EDI input for customer order requirements, creation of shipping documents, and transmission of advanced shipping notices.

Oxford Automotive Corporation is a tier 1 automotive metal stamping and precision assembly supplier of products with corporate sales approaching $1 billion with operating inventory of nearly $100 million. Oxford’s customer base includes; General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Daimler-Chrysler, Honda, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, and Mercedes. The products produced at the over 20 facilities around the globe include class “A” stampings, under body stampings, suspension assemblies, and steering components.
Corporate Manufacturing Systems Administrator: (July, 1999-March, 2000)
Responsible for facilitating the implementation of MAPICS operating system and Future 3 EDI customer communication system throughout all Oxford Automotive Corporation manufacturing facilities. Facilitated the planning and creation of all Materials and Operations system files. Had dotted line responsibility for all Materials Managers in conjunction with each Plant Manager. Also served as a corporate trainer for the MAPICS and Future 3 systems.
Materials Manager: (October 1995-July 1999)
Responsible for managing all materials functions, including Shipping, Receiving, Production Scheduling, MRO Purchasing, and Inventory Control. Supervised 13 persons within the Materials Department. Responsible for development and monitoring of a direct materials budget of approximately $30 million each year. Served as the plant coordinator for all manufacturing systems implementation and development projects.
Accomplishments:
Ø Successful implementation of MAPICS operating system across all manufacturing plants.
Ø Successful implementation of Future 3 EDI system across all manufacturing plants.
Ø Improved inventory accuracy 15% at the plant level through validation of system files, bar coding, and cycle count programs.
Ø Team leader for QS9000 certification project.
Ø Facilitated reduction in MRO inventory by 20% through vendor managed inventory programs and system tracking for all MRO supplies.
Ø Participated as a team member for plant wide cost savings of $1.4 million in 1996 and $1.2 million in 1997.

ATF Automotive Group March 1992- Sept.1995

ATF Automotive Group was a start up facility created by Veltri Stamping of Windsor, Ontario to provide underbody brackets and engine mount components at the tier 1 level for Daimler Chrysler, as well as, tier 2 products for Rockwell, Dana, and the Crown Group. The plant had sales of approximately $40 million with an operating inventory of $3.5 million. Corporate financial limitations forced the closure of the facility in 1995.

Materials Manager: (June 1994-Sept. 1995)
Responsible for the scheduling of raw materials and purchased components for the facility, customer quotations, managing inventory levels and logistics. Supervised 6 persons in the Materials group responsible for duties ranging from material handling to expediting to plant MRO buying. Extensive use of MRP system, Microsoft Excel and other PC based software.
Production Control Manager: (March 1992-June 1994)
Responsible for production scheduling, shipping, and inventory control functions. Scheduled a shop floor consisting of blanking presses, forming presses, and welders. Shipping department consisted of five individuals responsible for EDI transactions to a large base of automotive industry corporate partners. Supply Chain and Operations data was maintained on an AS400 system and use of MRP was critical to all aspects of the position.
Accomplishments:
Ø Implemented FIFO inventory system for management of all purchased and manufactured materials
Ø Implemented Future 3 EDI customer communications software.
Ø Received Chrysler Pentastar award for supplier excellence 1993 and 1994.
Ø Directed successful launch of 12 new products for the Chrysler AS minivan platform.
Ø Launched MRP based planning and scheduling system to replace manual system used at start up.
Ø Increased inventory turns by 45% from start up
