Objective: I am an Assistant Claims Examiner with the New York State Workers' Compensation Board. My job is processing claim forms for claimants. My job is done on the computer. I process decisions that were done at a meeting with a Conciliator or over the phone with the claimant. I input the information given to me from the Conciliator. At times the Law Judges render a Reserved Decision which they dictate this at a later date; typed/approved report given to claims examiner for processing.
Experience: 1980 St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, New York 11 Years work from January 1980 to May 1991 Different jobs at this hospital: unit secretary, family practice team secretary and cardiac surgeon's secretary.
[1]Unit Secretary - worked directly on a medical/surgical 32-bed unit with nurses, doctors and other hospital personnel. Worked closely with charge nurse and the patient's file. Answer phone and call to obtain patient test results Transported patients for testing. In charge of stock and restocking of medical supplies.
[2]Family Practice Team Secretary - worked for 12 medical residents and scheduled patient appointments; also typing, filing and retrieval of medical records.
[3]Cardiac Surgeon's - basic reception and clerical skills. In addition to scheduling the patient's surgery. Typed surgery reports and office notes. Small office - only 2 staff. No nurse in office.
