Filler Sterilizer Operator (1995 - 2006)

Operated line, maintained functionality and performed changeovers on
extremely diverse liquid filling and sterilizing equipment; executing
role, controlled fill weights and ensured can seams and sterilization
process consistent with work orders, job procedures and required FDA
specifications.

Circulated work area to ensure functionality of equipment and
related parts including mercury in glass thermometers, vents, drains,
pressure gauges, filling valves, can supply system, lid supply
system, conveyers, can rinsers and can dryers; performed vacuum and
weight checks on cans for specifications; analyzed can rinser
temperature; monitored and resolved issues with filler and seamer;
performed mercury tests; executed tear downs; supported work with
documentation maintained via computer and work order documents.

engineer in development of guide providing several problem scenarios

contributing to development of job aid detailing proper pull of cans
exiting sterilizer requiring hold placement for out of specification
condition.

* Lowered downtime, maintained filler production and eliminated
erratic fills by collaboratively working to identify and resolve
issues with dragging filler; worked with supervisor, line manager and
filler builder representatives to conclude issue was with flat wear
strips and subsequently resolved via use of slotted wear pads.

* Saved production expenses after suggestion accepted to narrow
product fills to one filter from two filters; suggestion accepted as
volume of product was able to be placed into cans versus down drains
at batch changes or filter cleanings.

* Resolved issue with mysterious sterilizer shells stoppage;
conducted research into historical data stored in computers and
identified stoppage due to bowed shell sensor as sensor reading
moving closer to bowing point even when cold and not in use. Worked
with electrical department on development of procedure calibrating
sensor every month.

* Eliminated problem with filling station not working properly and
causing shifts down time; observed actions of filler, conducted step
by step troubleshooting process including check of software
controller, load cell, air solenoids and filling valve, and
determined issue was filling valve in need of replacement.

* Demonstrating company-oriented professionalism, amidst power
outage, quickly operated sterilizers, numerous steam, water and air
valves to maintain balance of pressures and temperatures thus
preventing cans from exploding inside sterilizer. Efforts saved
18,000 cans and averted 8 potential hours of downtime by eliminating
need for maintenance to enter shells and manually remove cans.


Previously served as Utility Operator (1994 - 1995), Packing
Equipment Operator (1992 - 1994) and Forklift Operator (1990 - 1992).
