Interim night supervisor, appointed by a Board Member and Director of Nursing for this short length of time. As for the first eight years of my second marriage, I was required to move with my husband's job (1988-1996) very frequently and therefore afforded the opportunity of acquiring a diverse amount of experiences.
As Night Supervisor in charge of over thirty employees. My duties were administrative and emergency hands on nursing. Orientation of new employees, in-services for fire and safety as well as new procedures and equipment, disaster planning, as the facility sat right off of the shore (beach), counseling and discipline, terminations, and CPR certification for staff, as well as scheduling of all personnel for the night shift. The facility was also a Certified Nurse Aide training center for which I helped to assign RN mentors and assisted with their training. It was during this time in NJ. that OBRA regulations became mandatory. I was sent to ICD-9 Coding classes and was awarded the Nurse Assessor Identifier. This designation supported me in my responsibility to both the nursing home and the State for proper coding of patient conditions, formal questionnaires, physical assessments, and patient care plans addressing each problem as recognized by the ICD-9 codes.
