EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
SKILGROUP, INC. Chicago, IL 2006
Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) – McDonalds Account Solutions Architect 2006
Responsible for developing a server consolidation strategy to reduce the number of McDonald’s existing servers located in ACS’s data center. Created the architecture for a new virtualized Windows and AIX server environment for new applications. Also in the process of developing architectures for Citrix, Oracle database hosting and synchronization using EAI, and deployment of a new network monitoring tool.
COMPUTER SCIENCES CORPORATION (CSC) Chicago, IL 1986-2005
Global Infrastructure Services Division Solutions Architect 2001 to 2005 Identified best practices, created current state models, and designed robust architecture solutions to integrate new and legacy technologies. Provided guidance to various clients in outsourcing methodologies and systems architecture to enable the implementation of CSC's Service Delivery Models and to reduce infrastructure costs.
• Designed an architecture for a new, highly available, Notification Services infrastructure to provide CSC’s Service Model group the ability to automatically manage and execute escalation contacts using a variety of communication mediums. • Designed a Citrix solution to enable CSC employees at Sun Microsystem’s sites to use several required Microsoft tools to support CSC’s management of Sun’s applications. • Created, in an eight month period, the conceptual and logical designs for consolidating 125 terabytes of storage and related backup infrastructure as part of an eighteen month enterprise infrastructure consolidation from all of Aon’s data centers into two CSC data centers. Also provided oversight for the storage and backup infrastructure design and build in the CSC Managed Hosting Services data center. • Developed a system security authorization agreement template for the U.S. Army’s storage technology solution to enable them to define the proper set of requirements for vendor bids. Wrote and presented a paper describing best practices for developing a storage environment profile, created a list of criteria for evaluating storage management tools, and proposed a high level architecture for their future state storage infrastructure. • Completed, in three months, the hardware architecture for production, development, testing, and disaster recovery for two major financial applications at Motorola. • Designed storage area network and backup/restore architectures, over a nine month period, at two data centers for Nortel Networks. These data centers supported their engineering applications, application source control, and document management data using a total of approximately 250 servers and 50 terabytes of storage. • Updated the technology diagnostics model, created the architecture for an Oracle server failover solution, and created a testing environment for the U.S. Department of Education’s student loan program. Also assisted the other architects with the review of proposed technologies for the agency. • Developed architectural documents for network management, security, and asset lifecycle services in support of the transition of all of Nortel Network’s support services to CSC’s standard support processes in Nortel’s data centers. This was a one year engagement to support the eighteen month technical migration phase of CSC’s seven year outsourcing contract with Nortel.
CSC Consulting Group Senior Consultant 1992 to 2001 Performed as a business analyst, project leader, and software QA analyst for a variety of projects and industries. Highlights include:
* Managed a project for AT&T to provide digital facility provisioning capability to their service provisioning systems at a cost savings of six million dollars over two years.
* Managed the creation of the project management section of a large proposal to build and support a component framework based plant quality event system for General Motors. Responsible for defining how project management, systems development, and quality assurance methodologies would be used to plan, estimate, design, build, implement, and manage the proposed system. Also managed the creation of a high-level project plan and effort estimates.
* Managed the testing of a strategic, order management software package implementation project for U.S. Shoe Corporation. This project was a strategic initiative to consolidate and reengineer their order management, manufacturing, and distribution systems into a common architecture, saving the client millions of dollars
* Managed testing on a large reengineering project for Pennsylvania Power and Light. Their goal was to transfer all of their facility and equipment maps from paper to electronic format. This would allow much more accurate maps and would enable much faster response to trouble calls.
* Served as the Application Architect in a successful application renovation project for Ohio National Financial Services Corporation. As a result of leading the renovation, testing and archiving strategy efforts and monitoring the implementation of these strategies, the project was a completed on time and within budget.
* Managed the conversion and interfaces development team for a customer service reengineering implementation at Standard Register Corporation. Managed and participated in the initial analysis and design of the conversion and interface requirements for this application, using structured architecture and design approaches. Determined the architectural approach for every conversion and interface function. Drove the technical architecture definition for the real-time and batch interfaces.
* Managed the successful implementation of software QA standards for the development of a new, Unix based, equipment inventory system for AT&T’s central switching offices.
* As senior member of the testing team, was responsible for ensuring that a new, UNIX based order management package being installed by Panasonic would work according to their requirements and therefore generate projected savings of five to six million dollars a year.
