Grew a custom software design and consulting services company from inception to eventual sale. Managed sales, business development, P&L growth, and staffing responsibilities. GROUP DIRECTOR, Computer Task Group, Inc, San Ramon, CA (1985 to 1989)
Directed West Coast operations for this publically-held East Coast software consulting company. Brought together top-level expert project managers, programmers, and directors to handle multimillion-dollar projects.
• Closed profitable long-term software and product development contract with American Express, which significantly increased revenue by over $3 million.
• Managed creation of new software for large, national supermarket chain (Safeway) within tight deadlines. Consulted with management and development staff on system implementation and project solutions. Efforts saved chain millions of dollars in costs related to staff and production errors.
• Put together a team of 26 talented software engineers for key telecommunications company (NET) to develop a new software platform for a leading network company as it sought to move with its major client’s demands and integrate a newly purchased company’s product line into its own.
• Assembled a team of software engineers and product specialists to assist IBM in development of a specialist telephony switch for the public network. Determined and proved that further development of the product would not yield the expected results and managed to save IBM from a product that would not have met with success.

MANAGER/DIRECTOR, Bank of America, London, Panama, Caracas, Florida, & San Francisco (1979 to 1985)
Ran operational support, planning, and government liaison services for telecommunications division at largest US bank at the time; sphere of influence included Latin America/Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
• Headed a team developing a homogeneous approach to networking—known as the Global Data Network, integrating 66 disparate networks with non-compatible databases. First step towards providing CRM solutions on a global basis to client like Exxon-Mobile, and Chevron.
• Developed and presented strategic issues and appropriate metrics to Bank of America Board of Directors. Built and managed multifaceted teams and oversaw budgeting and systems planning for global IT group.
• Increased operational efficiencies and team collaboration within division by gaining extensive knowledge of cultural and political influences that impacted business operations.
