Skills: Dear Human Resource Director and/or Representative,
I have taken the liberty of contacting you directly since you are aware of the current and future business plans for your company. This letter is to introduce myself to you so you can determine if my credentials and experience may be beneficial to your firm. In submitting this letter, I would like to express to you my utmost interest for a position in the financial industry. My name is Lee Barry and I have a business backfield with a focus in Supply Chain Management and Business Logistics. I feel I am more than aptly prepared to taking on the next phase of my career after having worked for one of the largest, most distinguished, and well recognized conglomerates in Japan. It is of my ambition that I make a transition into a new industry field and am confident that the skills I can bring to bear, my intestinal fortitude to succeed, and the commitment I have for the long haul will be a conducive match for both your company and myself as a potential candidate employee.
During my initial years with Mitsui Bussan Logistics over 5 years ago, I took on more of a behind-the-scenes roll working alongside the logistics department. With job requirements that consisted of daily customer interaction, freight analysis and cost savings research, carrier negotiations, and a multitude of other skills, a foundation was set to further prepare me for the expectations to which I would encounter later on down the road in my career. As my persistence was evident in bringing each project to successful completion as well as my commitment to gaining measurable results for the company, I made extraordinary strides towards my future with the company. It was then during the middle of my stint with Mitsui Inc. that the proposal to cross-train into other sectors of the company was offered to me. With open arms, I gladly accepted the invitation to enhance my repertoire of growing skills while refining the fundamentals I had already obtained during my early years with the company.
As to note, the following is a brief synopsis of my career path during my employment with the Mitsui Corporation. In succession of my working for the logistics department, I went to directly working under the VP of Mitsui (John Weeks), moving on to fresh food packaging and product development, then progressing over to the forecasting division and assuming inventory management duties, transcending over to food sales while also juggling duties as the account representative for one of our major client commissaries and food distribution centers (Prime Deli Corp) here in Dallas, further adding food sale responsibilities (tuna, sandwich dressing, etc...), and finally making full circle and jointly working as a dual role resource for both the head of logistics and the senior operations manager. In the time spent working for Mitsui Bussan, I am proud of all that I have accomplished culminating with my resolve to take on new challenges in other realms of the business world. The gratification I was bestowed with can be attributed to the long hours invested (which is customary of Japanese companies) and the challenges I have managed to overcome in the time with Mitsui Bussan Logistics Inc.
In summary, I hope in having reviewed this letter that I have succeeded in expressing to you my full desire to take that next step over the horizon with your firm. It should be evident that I completely feel prepared and capable of learning, contributing, achieving, and bringing what necessary assets I already possess to the table for this choice of work. After all, my degree was in Finance. In essence, I would like to put to use the knowledge I acquired during my years of education. Hence, I am therefore respectfully requesting a personal interview. I feel confident that a frank, in-person discussion will determine and reaffirm that a compatible environment exists for a future relationship. In advance, I would like to thank you for your time and courtesy in reviewing this material and for your consideration of my qualifications for the open position. Please contact me at your earliest convenience so that I may further share with you my background and enthusiasm for the position in your organization. Please accept the enclosed resume as my application for the subject position. I look forward to meeting with you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Lee Barry
