May 1992 to June 1996 Engineering and Damage Control Officer- USCGC RED CEDAR 1992-1996 • Managed the operation and proper maintenance of all propulsion and auxiliary machinery, electrical and damage control equipment. • Administered over $79,000 in cutter maintenance funds. • Served as Total Quality Facilitator and Training Officer. • Implemented a Quality, Training, Safety and Planning Board to develop new business roles to reduce the number of watch-standers on board the cutter while in homeport. Purpose of the initiative was designed to prototype “minimum manned” conditions for cutter class replacement, and improve safety and training. Cutter awarded the Total Quality Management Award for Small Operational Unit, 1994. U.S. Coast Guard in Norfolk, Va. May 1996 to June 2000 Type Desk Manager- Maintenance Logistics Command, Atlantic MLCA (vr) 1996-2000 • Coordinated the repair, maintenance and alteration of 7 Sea-Going Class Buoy Tenders and 6 Coastal Class Buoy Tenders. • Administered CASREP support, Current Ships Maintenance Projects (CSMP), plan/administer scheduled drydock and dockside repairs; coordinate actions with District commands and Naval Engineering Support Units (NESU). • Administered over $3M in cutter maintenance funds annually. • Evaluated and developed written correspondence on Ship Alterations (ShipAlts), Configuration Change Requests and prototype initiatives/authorizations. • Updated and maintained the Cutter Class Maintenance Plans (CCMP), and Long Range Maintenance Plans (LRMP) for supported cutters. • During a 3-year period, saved over $300,000 through various National Stock System price challenges and by working with the Coast Guard Yard to improve their estimating process. • Managed the high profile Caribbean Support Tender (CST) Project, spending countless hours providing policy guidance to the CST Team and was the process owner of the over $850,000 drydock availability to re-commissioning USCGC GENTIAN, maintained process integrity and completed the project on time and $175,000 below budget.
