Director of Education and Organizational Development-Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety-Operations Division
Key Job Responsibilities and accomplishments:
• Managed, planned, and directed the analysis and development of the Department’s Education and Organizational section by the administration of 20 full-time staff members in all areas including DMVS statewide program development, operations, and budget. Articulates policies/plans to the Commissioner, Chief Operating Officer, and other senior department staff, Georgia Association of Tax Commissioners (GATO) Educational Board and the public. Guides the Operations Division in Educational and customer service matters and provides direct technical assistance in all aspects of Education and Organizational Development.
• Established the values and mission of the Education and Organizational Development unit and contributed to the values and mission of the new department. In addition, has established the values and mission of the Department’s Drivers Education Compliance Unit.
• Developed a Customer Service lead for the Operations Division. Installed and trained all 54 Driver License Customer Service Centers in Q-Matic and customer service and managed the ongoing Q-Matic program.
• Planned and developed three major Customer Service Centers for the State of Georgia. These Customer Service Centers were developed following a totally new vision for managing the customer experience.
• Actively participated in all Operations Division and Department strategic Planning.
• Built an Education and Organizational Unit from scratch. • Designed the curriculum to be taught, selected a full-time staff of 20, trained the staff, and supervised their activities and development. Developed and delivered monthly, quarterly and annual GRATIS technical and Motor Vehicle business training. Supervised educational programs including but are not limited to: technical training, business training, customer service, teamwork, leadership, self-development and continuous learning and performance management.
These educational programs involved both motor vehicle employees and agents across the entire state and 159 counties, as well as Driver Services personnel across the state at 87 locations including Conyers. The entire student workload exceeds 2,300 employees and agents. Developed, organized, and delivered annual, new employee and recurring training. Program delivery is available by both traditional classroom as well as distance learning – through the Internet, video, and CD.

• Developed and monitored the Education & Organizational Development Unit’s budget. Monitored purchasing of materials, employee travel, and other Unit costs.
• Coordinated and developed the Operation’s participation in four major tax commissioner conferences per year. Presented workshops at these conferences.
• Interacted with local school systems to inform them of changes in the Driver’s Education laws and regulations, as well as private Driver’s Education providers. As administrator of the Department’s Driver’s Education Program, works with 716 separate sites, 375 instructors and 375 vehicles.
• Administrator of the Driver’s Education Unit in Operations which maintained close contact with school systems and private training facilities to keep them updated on current laws and regulations.
• Selected and trained a professional staff of 20 full time trainers. They provide training statewide as well as present workshops at state and regional meetings. Developed the team into a strong, cohesive unit that is recognized for its professionalism and dedication. Regularly reviews all aspects of the educational programs with the staff to ensure that students received exceptional training.
