Managed the efforts for the evaluation and initial deployment strategy of nCircle IP360 suite within Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Computing Services Division (CSD).

UNIX PATCH MANAGER - PatchLink.
November 2004 – May 2005
Managed the daily activities of the team responsible for creating various patches for various UNIX operating systems (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, and RedHat LINUX). Implemented procedures to streamline the tasking of daily patch creation to a central body allowing other team member to focus on longer projects while maintaining service agreements with customers. These procedures lead to the completion of all backed logged patches for all supported UNIX operating systems well within the estimated project timeline. Weekly briefings were provided to the CEO on the status of the backlog.

Managed the efforts to drafting key technical testing documents for numerous projects as the managing security engineer: Secure Configuration Compliance and Validation Initiative (SCCVI) and Secure Configuration Remediation Initiative (SCRI), Technical Insertion Panel (TIP) and Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for product evaluation (StrowmWatch, CyberWall, Harris STAT, Internet Security System (ISS) Internet and System Scanner, and SecureNet).

Created the initial deployment strategy for the ISS RealSecure Network (NIDS) and server sensors at PA Commonwealth Technology Center (CTC). Performed penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on UNIX and Windows NT and 2000 systems. Provided training to customer staff on the process to review ISS RealSecure logs for events of interest.

Maintained 99% uptime on all mission critical systems over a 6 month period. Implemented systems security standards for all responsible systems – standards were later adopted agency-wide. Provided monthly statistics of work to senior management.

INFORMATION SECURITY ANALYST – LEAD TECHNICIAN - Intermetrics, Inc.
Defense Information Systems Agency, Chambersburg, Pa
September 1997 to May 2000
Technical lead on the testing and implementation of AXENT Technologies Information Security products at local and remote sites. Other responsibilities include research, testing, and reviewing various security vulnerabilities on multiple operating systems and recommending resolutions. Provided short notice solutions to security setting for native operating systems for Defense Information Infrastructure Common Operating Environment (DII-COE) at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL). This included detailed instructions to configure DII COE sites to maintain the security level required by DISA. Configuration scripts for instructions were provided for Solaris, HP-UX, Windows NT/98, Cisco routers and switches and basic firewall theories.

MANAGER/LEAD TECHNICIAN – Atlantic Intelligence Command (AIC)
March 1994 – September 1997
Primary responsibility as the sole UNIX Systems Administrator for local and remote Top Secret and Secret sites, consisting of over 400 UNIX workstations and 4,100+ user accounts. As Manager and Lead Technician of the Client Server Environment Integration group for the transition from SunOS to Solaris, responsibilities included system configurations, network planning, and conversion of user accounts.


DATABASE/SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – USS Theodore Roosevelt
September 1990 – March 1994
Duties included formulation of operating policy and procedures for computer operators. Provided technical training for computer operators, formulations of training manuals, and systems performance monitoring. Primary contact for troubleshooting and SQL-based repairs. Member of team responsible for running a fiber backbone throughout the entire ship. This included configuring security and operations on the Fore Systems ATM Switch. Member of the PC support team responsible for trouble-shooting end-user issues. Many of these issues involved the removal of virus and Trojan bugs.
