Director Demand Planning – Refrigerated Foods – Naperville, IL (2005)Process owner of weekly volume forecasting system for perishable meat and dairy products. With staff of seven lead consensus forecast, and Sales & Operations Planning (S & O P) processes with final integration to division financial projections and results. Bridge the gap from the clinical side of demand planning with business realities. Collaborate with Business Development, Brand Marketing and Lead Demand Planners to document S & O P and Consensus Forecast processes. Responsible for planning 1450 UPCfs with DC/UPC weekly forecast accuracy trending toward a 70% world class target.
Director Supply Planning – Refrigerated Foods – Downers Grove, IL (2003 to 2005) Consolidated Dairy and Processed Meat Planning departments. Developed processes and team skill sets to replace weekly re-order point system for Processed Meat Planning. Centralized planning decisions for direct plant customer and buffer inventory levels. Employed the national forecast to determine weekly netted production requirements to twelve internal and five major contract manufacturers. Implemented Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) using weekly DC/UPC forecasts for daily deployment planning.
• Provided weekly production requirements for both warehouse and plant direct needs to plants. Centralized planning accountable for the total national inventory and daily deployment throughout the distribution network.
• Installed planning model which supported a demand pull to supply five regional mixing centers that provides Plant Warehouses with daily discrete shipping requirements (orders).
• Maintained twenty annual inventory turns for this perishable meat business.
• Delivered customer fill rates above 98% while managing obsolescence to less than one percent, for products with a shelf life range from seventy to one hundred twenty total days with trade guarantees of forty to forty-five days.
• For the first time, successfully moved the process meat business into forward distribution without a decrease in fill rates and an increased obsolescence, through process improvement and training.
• Delivered weekly requirements to plants and purchasing two days sooner than legacy method and one day ahead of the competition. Saved an estimated $10 million.
• Implemented SAP order to cash replacing two legacy order management systems, the basis for a recent 15% - $100 million SG&A reduction.

Director Distribution and Planning – Enterprise Logistics - Schaumburg, IL (2000 to 2003)
Maintained complete responsibility for distribution of ConAgra Dairy Products. Had key role with company professionals and external consultants on the design of an integrated distribution network for each of ConAgrafs dry, frozen and refrigerated products groups.
• Led the inventory team for the shelf stable products groups. Developed inventory transition plans from numerous legacy DCfs into seven company operated mixing/distribution centers.
• Developed capital and inventory transition plans for refrigerated and frozen products from legacy distribution points into six company operated mixing/distribution centers. The total network savings are projected at $50 million annually.
• Delivered over $3.5 million in additional pre-network savings through consolidating Food Service Dairy regional third party distribution points using pool distribution programs and delivery fleet elimination.

Director Planning and Distribution – Dairy Products – Waukesha, WI (1999 to 2000)
Centralized planning functions of the Food Service Cheese business to replace a make-to-order planning and delivery model. Developed a regionally deployed make-to-stock system, utilizing world class regional third party logistics providers. In addition, managed planning and inventory deployment for the Retail Dairy Products business.
• Delivered $1 million in transportation savings utilizing third party pool delivery and fixed sailing schedules and created meaningful basis on which to measure on-time delivery to customer.
• Shortened average Food Service customer order lead-time from two weeks to five working days.
• Improved Food Service customer fill rates to a sustainable 98%.
• Reduced $2 million in transportation savings by consolidating Retail Dairy and Food Service distribution.
• Process leader for transition of order management and inventory data as result of the sale of selected Food Service Plants and Brands to Schreiber Cheese Co. which delivered $1 million to the bottom line.

CULLIGAN INTERNATIONAL, Northbrook, IL 1996 to 1998
Director Materials and Distribution
Managed transportation and warehousing, materials management, production control, customer service and purchasing, with a staff of seven direct with total organization over 70. Accountabilities included full P&L responsibility for Culligan Distribution Service, a profitable $8 million salt sales and delivery operation and business unit. Integrated customer service, materials management and physical distribution, fleet and warehousing, domestic and international, in a combination make-to-order/make-to-stock production plant, distributing residential and commercial equipment through franchisees, company stores, OEM and end-users.
• Utilized Kaizen and team problem solving methodology to find and eliminate bottle necks in the service parts picking process. Average order cycle time dropped from three days to one day.
• Integrated materials, purchasing, customer service and logistics, providing lead-time reductions to deliver commodity and transportation savings of over $2million, and 15% warehouse productivity improvements.
• Selected and implemented Demand Solutions for the statistical forecasting platform.
• Directed departmental process documentation & training supporting ISO certification within one year.

KEEBLER COMPANY, Elmhurst, IL 1968 to 1996
A major manufacturer and distributor of food products with annual sales of $1.8 billion. Director Planning and Deployment (1993 to 1996)
Managed centralized manufacturing and inventory planning in this multi-plant and multi-distribution center, environment with a staff of five direct reports and thirty indirect/matrix associates.
• Successfully implemented fundamental changes to every aspect of the supply chain as part of a turnaround effort. One project led to the sale of a business unitfs operations and assets.
• Streamlined product production cycles and product deployment to deliver a reduction of total finished goods inventory from twenty eight days to seventeen days while lifting order fill rates to 98%.
• Recruited a team of statisticians which developed a demand-planning model for this promoted direct store door business.
• Piloted gadopt a customerh program which provided a formal headquarters communication link to customers.
