Experience: Prudential Financial, Houston, Texas, and Metairie, Louisiana 1999-2005 Operations and Control Consultant, Houston, Texas (2003-2005) Developed and implemented a review checklist to enhance the required oversight analysis of the circumstances surrounding the sale of non-company products to replace company products. Result: Better documentation of the review process of outbrokered business and a needed, more complete response to the outbrokerage oversight for the annual agency compliance Field Office Exam, by the home office. Audits produced no findings in this area and examiners approved of new documentation and its resulting effectiveness. Implemented TQM process analysis with agency staff, since some existing processes appeared to be faulty and failed to accomplish the desired result. Result: Staff member responsibilities and job assignments were clarified, duplication of effort was halted, process gaps were identified and corrected and ineffective processes were either changed or eliminated. Overall efficiency of the staff was improved and productivity increased. Standardized the discussion agents should have with a client, related to discovering whether or not certain disclosure forms should be completed, in a potential replacement or financing scenario. Result: Agents now properly provide the required disclosure forms to clients at time of sale and are not required to revisit the client for missed signatures on forms. Agent disciplinary actions decreased and client outreach calls by staff members or management were greatly reduced, therefore saving time for addressing other issues.
Operations and Controls Consultant, Metairie, Louisiana (1999-2003) Developed a forms key for agents reference to reduce improper form use with clients. Result: Proper form use reduced new business processing time, allowed agent credibility to be maintained with the client, reduced disciplinary actions on agents and decreased staff time that had to be dedicated to following up on and resolving improper forms issues. Managed change to and overcame agent rejection of new operational and compliance procedures through explanation of cause and effect, consistent training of new and veteran agents and by minimizing approvals of unnecessary exceptions to the new procedures. Result: Agents came to terms with and pushed through their perceived confusion and inconvenience, increased their compliance knowledge, advanced their understanding and use of technology, improved their new business prospecting processes and gained a new respect for my ability to offer critical sales support and training.
Northern Life Insurance Company, New Orleans, Louisiana 1998-1999 Sales Representative Developed and presented live seminars aimed at fixed annuity investment options for a particular class of 403(b) qualifying investors, specifically preceding their approaching retirement. Located and convinced a group of PhD course content experts to assist with the product development. Negotiated a greatly reduced compensation rate for services rendered by all the PhDs. Result: Expert course content was acquired at less than 50% of the going rate for PhD time and expertise on the open market at that time. All intellectual property rights were negotiated to be owned by Examco and the new product hit the market with a flurry of sales and successful licensing exam completions. Led a self-directed product development team formed to design, develop and maintain quality computer based licensing exam preparation courses for the securities and insurance industries. Result: Developed and brought to market the planned products within budget and time parameters. The courses were a success in the marketplace and ultimately played a significant part in the purchase of Examco by a competing corporation to gain its intellectual property, product lines and customer base. Increased customer satisfaction by initiating the development of standardized, easy to understand training tools and examples for use during toll free instruction of customers. Trained the other instructors on the tools and examples and assisted in the development of additional instructional tools. Result: Clients received a more uniform explanation of answers to course questions and with easier to understand instruction examples, clients grasped the concepts being questioned more quickly.
