Objective:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and Program Administrator, implements daily programming, charts clients’ progress, and maintains a safe, clean classroom environment.


Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma.
· Six post-secondary semester units in early childhood education or child development (AA in
related field preferred).
· Experience with disabled children.
· Experience in a licensed day care center (at least six months).
· Genuine love for children.
· Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
· Ability to chart student progress in writing.


Additional Information:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Program Implementation:
Have and employ a working knowledge of each child’s individual plan (ISP or IPP).
Instruct individual and small group lessons.
Assist as needed during while class lessons with prompting, reinforcement, behavior, etc.
Work cooperatively with Head Teacher , Assistant Teacher, other Program Aides, and all
other team professionals and participants to provide a coordinated successful
educational plan.
Know and follow daily assignments as delineated by the classroom teacher.
Perform only direct student service activities during programming hours.
Employ appropriate teaching and reinforcement techniques as directed by the Head Teacher
to maximize student achievement.
Understand components of classroom climate and maintain an environment that is clean,
attractive and safe.
Ensure the safe and regular care of clients as schedules and as needed including toileting,
diapering, administering medication, changing clothes, and constant, direct supervision
at all times.
· Performing Other Duties During Program Hours:
Maintain the classroom and the agency in a neat, orderly and safety-conscious manner.
Supervise student arrivals and departure according to agency policy.
Report any suspected child abuse immediately to the Assistant Executive Director of Social
Work.
Report any staff (or volunteer) incident and/or injuries to the Program Administrator
immediately and complete related documents as required.
Report any client incidents and/or injuries to the Program Administrator immediately and
complete related follow-up (i.e. incident report, parent telephone calls) as needed.
Immediately apprise the Head Teacher or Program Administrator of all parental concerns,
issues and communications.
Monitor and ensure the appropriate administration and related documentation of medication
according to the agency’s policy, and know and employ the appropriate procedures for
seizure clients.
Know emergency procedures and follow then during any real or simulated emergency (i.e. fire
drills, drop drills, civil disturbances, etc.).
Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Program Administrator or Executive
Administrator.

· Performing Other Duties Before and After Program:
Write daily chart notes on students as assigned to document students' progress.
Assist the Head Teacher with bulletin boards, material preparation, etc.
Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
Know, follow, and enforce agency policy regarding time cards and punching in and out
according to schedule.
Follow agency policy regarding dress appropriate to the workplace.
Attend and participate in meetings as scheduled, including staff meetings, supervision
meetings, and in-service training.
Assist with special projects and activities as assigned.
Perform other duties as deemed appropriately by Program Administrator or Executive
Administrator.
