Experience: Special Projects/Service Manager, Smurfit-Stone Containerboard/Meta Systems, 2003-Present Manage a team of four to implement detailed projects for niche products, at the customer’s request, throughout the western hemisphere. Responsibilities include the implementation of new projects in the field, as well as updates or changes to current configurations. Worked in conjunction with two designers to design and build Meta Systems’ first eight sided, servo driven, high speed corrugated case erecting machine. Relevant Experience Managed “Project Maverick”, which utilizes paperboard being run through an eight sided, corrugated, case erecting machine. Project Maverick is used by Proctor & Gamble for special occasions such as holidays and new introductory products. Managed the set up and installation of machinery for the entire Boars Head Meat Provisions plants. Managed the Franzia 3 liter Wine in a Box project, which can be found in stores such as Wal-Mart and other nationally known grocery stores. Currently overseeing the design of two new machines and packages to be delivered to Argentina for the Franzia 5 liter Wine in a Box for South American distribution. Directly responsible for the E&J Gallo Wine Packs and machinery. These Wine packs come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, depending on the market and occasion. They can be found in package stores, club stores, as well as grocery stores worldwide. Managed the set up of a new machine that produces a 24 pack, eight sided case with internal strapping for Molson Beverage. The new 24 pack case is customer driven to incorporate a display panel and graphics on the four miters for overall market appeal. This project is currently under negotiation. Ensure the quality of all aspects related to each project such as: Machine stability and performance. Board type, dimensions, and weight. The clarity of graphics and print, and the aesthetics of the finished product.
Design Engineer/Safety Manager, Smurfit Stone/Meta Systems, 2001-2003 Responsibilities included the design of new components, based on Autodesk Inventor R.7 software, the design of tooling based on the customer’s products, and the institution of shared components throughout the company’s full line of equipment. Relevant Experience Have a patent pending on a self designed, fully automated, dual servo machine with Smurfit Stone. Developed new safety standards as Safety Manager, which has provided ‘zero’ recordable accidents, as well as ‘zero’ near misses to date.
Service Engineer, Smurfit Stone/Meta Systems, 2000-2001 Worked in conjunction with a team of seven to assemble and install eight sided, corrugated, case erecting machines. Responsibilities included traveling throughout the western hemisphere to troubleshoot (electrically, pneumatically, and mechanically), repair, and design new ideas to provide longevity and better machine performance. Relevant Experience Directly responsible for audits conducted on all of the company’s machinery.
Flight Engineer/Company Trainer, U.S. Army, 1996-2000 Instructed and managed the training of over 40 personnel in various mission tasks. Fully mission qualified in all 16 of the company’s arduous mission tasks and was a non-rated crewmember trainer in five of those missions. Relevant Experience Received four awards, in direct recognition, for exceptional job performance and managerial skills. Implemented new ideas and equipment to three of the company’s missions. Directly responsible for the accountability and operational readiness rate of a unique helicopter and all associated equipment, worth over $40 million.
