Duties include: Establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, patients, professional trade groups, Medical Executive Committee members, and other employees; maintaining a professional reputation and ensuring appropriate level of confidentiality is kept.
I would answer phones, make appointments for optometrists and ophthalmologist, verify insurance coverage, pre-pull and audit charts for efficient routing, confirm appointments with patient one day in advance, disperse purchase orders as needed, taking payments, distributing correspondence, and running errands, (includes vehicle maintenance). I would screen waiting area magazines and brochures, request charts from our storage building and/or our satellite office in Livingston, and updating the reader-board for current information. Other duties included: cross-training for various other positions in the clinic as a back-up if needed, giving orders for contact lenses and / or refills to the appropriate representative, and assisting with various other projects as they may arise. I kept many logs of most events. Another duty I had: every Tuesday working in our surgery department as a transporter / nurse’s aid. I am fluent in many computer programs and nominal in others (see SKILLS).

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, COLLECTION AGENCY LIAISON, EMERGENCY ROOM REGISTRATION CLERK, SWITCHBOARD (PBX) OPERATOR, PATIENT INFORMATION, TRANSPORTER, ETC…
Duties included: (Originally) general clerical; answering and directing calls on a 100+ extension phone system and paging physicians as needed; (Then, both) working also in Registration; checking patients into the hospital, taking and/or posting payments, verifying insurance, getting authorization and/or pre-certification (if required), creating route-sheets (with patients updated demographics), getting consents for treatment, assisting medical staff with ambulatory or problem patients, etc... I usually logged over 80 per week until; (Finally as Customer Service Rep. in the Business Office), where I handled patients’ accounts on a more personal and direct level, making adjustments, investigating problems, following up with insurance companies, and keeping patients’ informed. Other duties: documenting, mail-handling for many departments, ordering supplies, submitting work requests, and working with outside vendors (including collection agencies). I was also responsible for all legal inquiries, such as subpoenas / affidavits, for medical and / or billing records from various sources (local, county, and state law offices).
I kept many logs and files (including visitors and credit card payments). I received extensive training in many computer programs (see SKILLS). All while following strict guidelines, regulations, and laws from the administration, EMTALA, HIPPA, and JCAHO. I received several Certificates of Appreciation and Completion for Basic Collections and Insurance Reimbursement, Legal Issues Workshops, etc…

Duties included: operation, maintenance (also preventative), inspection, repair, and training on various engineering machinery in a six-hundred pound steam-driven propulsion plant. This required extensive knowledge of engines, boilers, generators, AC & heat units, gauges, piping, valves (including sleeve packing), jet-eductors, pumps, turbines, multi-stage evaporators, tanks / sumps, breaker boards, etc… I was qualified TopWatch (which includes Upperlevelman, Lowerlevelman, Throttleman, Messenger, etc…), Fire Control, Locker Team Leader, Rapid Response Team, First Aid & Rescue, CPR, Scene Investigator, Nozzleman, etc… I received many medals and letters of appreciation and accommodation.

*YOUTH CONSERVATION CORP. (YCC, A Division of the Texas Forestry Service).
From April 1992 to April 1993 as:
VOLUNTEER, TRAINEE FOR TEXAS FORESTRY SERVICE, GENERAL LABOR
I was trained for Wilderness Fire and Erosion Control, Wildlife Conservation, Plant Distinction and Classification, Endangered Species Habitation, and Wildlife Population Research (just to name a few).
Duties: I helped build park benches and clean up roadsides, bridges, recreation areas, illegal dump sites and after-school events in the local East Texas area.
