Promoted into this key leadership role to provide strong guidance to between 50 and 60 sergeants and troopers in the field, supervise all shift activities, and schedule assignments for all assigned personnel under personal command.
* Demonstrated excellent law enforcement skills in carrying out assignments, including traffic enforcement and supervising personnel conducting major crime scene investigations.
* Ensured that all recruits received/completed proper training regarding law enforcement and departmental policies/procedures.
* Coordinated security for and escorted high-profile government officials, including the President of the United States.
* Coordinated/directed the security plan for the Gubernatorial inauguration of Don Sundquist.
* Served as the Site Supervisor for the 1996 Olympic Kayaking event held in Ocoee, TN.
Sergeant (1992-1994). Managed shift activities, including officer scheduling and patrol zone assignments, and conducted on-going training for new and existing officers to keep them up-to-date with new policies, procedures, and regulations.
* Reviewed and verified all paperwork and arrest documentation during the shift.
* Accountable for staff discipline, performance evaluations, and tracking time off.
Patrol Officer (1983-1992). Patrolled assigned areas, answered calls from citizens, and made arrests for law violations.
* Developed strong skills for investigating and reporting on domestic violence, drunk driving, burglaries, traffic accidents, murder investigations, and securing crime scenes.
* Named Trooper of the Year in 1991 for work on numerous drug busts.
* Worked for two years on Governor Lamar Alexander's personal security detail.
