1) Project Name : SMS, AutoZone Memphis. (Current project)
Duration : From 20th Dec, 2003 to till date.

AutoZoneˇ¦s Store Management System (SMS) is a screen driven application which consists of many C executable / shell scripts that run on UNIX / LINUX boxes. As part of SMS roll out of the SMS system to Mexico, there are number of changes required in the system to handle the functional requirements in Mexico. We are working on customization of the SMS system for Mexico which includes program as well as various report changes.

I developed a new module called Hacienda Factura. This is a screen driven application developed by using C Curses. This module generates a report called Factura for all AutoZone business customers to report their taxes at the end of the year. The scope of the project also includes maintaining the customer records for one year.

Developed a tool called Network Analyzer in AutoZone Memphis to measure the response times for different POS (point of sale) transaction like credit/debit card, Telecheck and different AutoZone specific transaction. This tool would generate the dummy transactions of specific type and fires them in between a specific time. It measures the response time for each transaction and logs the data in the database for future reference.

Currently developing an application for AutoZone to count the physical inventory through RF gun. This application will basically count the inventory and also report the discrepancies with the previous count. It also generates a detail report for the top management to see the accuracy of inventory counting.

2) Project Name : CHRONOS, FedEx Orlando.
Duration : From 1st Feb, 2001 to 18th Nov, 2003.

Role : Team Lead

CHRONOS (Greek for Time) is an end-to-end redesign process of FedEx that focuses on the revenue cycle from point-of-origin, package processing, through final payment. Chronos is streamlining and simplifying the FedEx revenue cycle.
I am involved now in the module Revenue Recognition (RevRec) of this project now.
Revenue Recognition:
Revenue Recognition is a process, which uses data produced in the revenue system to support general ledger accounting and reporting, as well as the analysis and reporting of revenue data as a basis for decision support. Few main objectives of RevRec are:
„X To track revenue information which means tracking down the revenue in real time through the four stages of the revenue cycle (Projected, Expected, Earned and Billed)
„X Provide timely, accurate, consistent and complete revenue information.
„X Provide visibility to rated revenue as soon as a package is picked-up.

I was also involved in the module Publish Data (PD) of this project.

Publish Data:
Publish Data publishes all domestic Shipments with the respective charges processed by CHRONOS to ISH. Every Invoicing cycle, Publish Data receives data about shipments and charges from RMUE. Publish data Extracts all the details for each of the shipments with the respective charges from the database. This data is written on to files and a copy is sent to Revenue Reconciliation and every Shipment along with the charges is published to ISH, which is a data warehouse for CHRONOS.


3) Project Name : FedExNet Square (Testing)
Duration : Oct 2000 to Jan 2001
Environment : Java

Role : Team Member (Taster).

The project was on the messaging system of FedEx. The system routes the messages between the different customers and FedEx. It was a web-based application and my role involved was testing the web-based application. I was mainly involved the automating the whole testing process with Win runner and load runner tools. I was involved in writing the win runner and load runner scripts.

4) Project Name : ROPERS (Rapid order processing and error recovery subsystem).
Duration : Aug 1999 to Aug 2000
Environment : Tandem
Skill/Tools : C, COBOL85, NSQL
Role : Onsite coordinator in FedEx, Memphis

This project involves mainly the production support of the ROPERS system. This system was the order entry system for the FedEx Logistic division, Memphis. Customers of FedEx will be placing the orders. The system will receive the order, allocate the requested item and also simultaneously update the inventory files. The system will also validate the shipping addresses. The work involved was giving 24 hours production support, interaction with the customer and co-ordination with the offshore team. The work also involves the coding, testing and implementation.


5) Project Name : Year 2000 Compatibility Conversion
Duration : Nov 1998 to July 1999
Environment : Tandem
Skill/Tools : C, COBOL85, NSQL
Role : Team Member.

This project involves the enhancing and Y2K renovation for the Business Logistics System of FedEx, Memphis. This application consists of around 300 programs, which include Cobol Servers, Scobol Requestors and Stand Alone Programs. We used the fixed windowing technique for renovation of the affected sources. The team Comprised of six members including me. We completed the project well before the stipulated period, with much Customer appreciation.


6) Project Name : PROMIS (PROject Management Information System).
Duration : Nov 1997 to May 1998
Environment : Windows and MS Access.
Skill/Tools : VB(Visual Basic 5) and Crystal Report.
Role : Team Member.

PROMIS is an in-house based tool for monitoring the various activities. As an end-user, one will have PROMIS installed in his local machine on the network. It is user-friendly (Has a GUI Interface) and one can secure it with a Password. Each and every Professional log in their daily activities on PROMIS. It is a record of the time and effort spent by an Engineer on the various activities (including Personal activities, such as Banking, Self-study and general activities like Attending Meetings, etc.) he/she might perform on any day.


7) Project Name : Production support for Logistic division of FedEx.
Duration : Nov 1997 to May 1998
Environment : Tandem
Skill/Tools : C, COBOL85, NSQL
Role : Team Member.

Production support involves analyzing and fixing bugs reported by the logistics division of FedEx or from any of their customers, which are received in the form of work requests. The work also involves developing enhancements to the existing applications to improve their functionality or presentation of data as in reports. I was involved in analysis, design, coding and testing.
