Skills: I am a Cardiovascular Perfusion graduate of the class of 2005 at Medical University of South Carolina. The types of procedures in which I participated were coronary artery bypass grafts, aortic valve repair/replacements, mitral valve repair/replacements, tricuspid valve repair/replacements, bi-ventricular assist device placements, heart transplants, liver transplants, and aortic aneurysms. The adult circuits that were utilized for these cases were the Cobe Duo, Cobe Optimin, Cobe Apex, and the Capiox SX 25.
During my educational experience, I have had the opportunity to setup and observe pediatric cardiac procedures. The pediatric circuits I utilized for setup were the Lilliput II, Baby RX, and Capiox SX-10.
The pump systems that were used for the pediatric and adult cases listed above were the Sarns 8000, Terumo System I, or Jostra Rotaflo.
My current research endeavors involve a research project entitled, “Investigation of Four Different Tubing Coatings for Spallation During Roller-Pump Use for Cardiopulmonary Bypass.” The results were presented at the Amsect conference in New Orleans, LA.
