Skills: I can offer you the benefits of extensive experience and an outstanding record of accomplishments with proven results. I enjoy challenges and feel my management, administrative, and financial expertise would fit well with an organization that requires sound leadership and decisiveness. I am a confident, capable, experienced professional with very effective organizational, communication, and human resource skills. I wish to establish a long-term relationship in a position which entails broad responsibility.
Additional Information: As a Production Underwriter, with general supervision and independent judgment, I was responsible for the profitability and growth of the Michigan territory through a network of independent agents. I identified, solicited, and recommended the appointment of new agencies. I regularly visited agencies within my field center and was a liaison between the company and agency staff. I trained agency staff on company philosophy, systems, products, policies and procedures. I assisted agencies and the company in identifying and exploiting markets for company products. I facilitated the resolution of service and other issues between the agency and the company in all areas.
In my duties as a Senior Life Underwriter, I held total responsibility for accepting, rejecting, and modifying applications for insurance. I maintained new business applications and mail task quotas on a per week basis, and thoroughly answered risk assessment, rule and pricing questions for agents, and analyzed lab reports, medical records, inspection reports, and tax returns. I was also responsible for placement of new business with re-insurers within the context of treaty and facultative contracts. I delegated duties to underwriting support personnel, produced case studies for workshop discussions, and wrote, directed, and performed in CSR, (customer service representative), seminars for agency personnel, and consulted with management regarding state assigned production. I provided “Thank You” letters to new agency appointments, welcoming them to Auto Owners, executed excellent Marketing Representative visits, and secured future commitments for substantial new business increases.
As a Senior Commercial Multi Lines Underwriter, I held total responsibility for accepting, rejecting and modifying applications for insurance. I facilitated completion of inspection reviews and loss report analysis, handled and maintained existing accounts, and developed written and computer generated sales proposals. I negotiated coverage and pricing disciplines with agents, provided resolution of service concerns for Virginia and South Carolina agents and was granted complete branch authority. I worked on large account submissions, resolved billing problems, addressed concerns, and prepared and sent communications to agents. I trained and taught classes internally, created training manuals and materials, executed agency visits, and fostered goodwill among agents and colleagues. I was responsible for workshop presentations and gave external seminar presentations to independent agents. My duties as a Mid Michigan Marketing Representative were similar to those in my role as a Production Underwriter. I developed, maintained, and serviced a 56 agency sales force. Sales were increased and existing business was maintained in this $50,000,000 territory. Five new agencies were assigned each year. I delivered and instructed the use of guideline manuals and sales materials. Agency contracts were presented for signature. My laptop computer was used to run proposals and compile production results. Strong agency rapport was developed through excellent relationship skills. I created a disability income procedure manual and instructed mini-meeting classes for agency personnel.
