Objective: My goal is to be a part of team that wants to grow and expand with new technology. Information technology is my expertise and with the right organization I will have the opportunity to explore new technology to implement a secure and fast LAN or WAN. Over ten years experience with computers.
Experience:
Satellite and Computer Technician Sep 2008- Sep 2009
SanSat Small satellite company that has offices all over Texas. I was hired as a technician but developed and maintained the WAN. Naco-Perrin San Antonio, TX 78217
Contractor for Directv Satellite services. During this period of my life I was mainly used to install Television service. Since the company couldn’t afford an IT department I offered free computer work in order to get more experience to expand my studies so that I can obtain CCNA.
TCP/IP Technician Nov 2007 – Sep 2008
P.B.S. Small contracting company for Time Warner Communications. They install a large portion of the workload for Time Warner in San Antonio. Lookout Rd San Antonio, 78217
Contractor for installing cable modems. Most cases I was doing a lot of free computer repair because the user’s computer wouldn’t have the right drivers or need updates and in some rare cases a format and reload. Numerous spy ware issues due to incorrectly configured windows caused me a lot of time teaching people how computer packets operate and how open ports causes problems. I always used WPA security on the Wireless NETGEAR routers with a number in the password to ensure no unauthorized access to the LAN.
Satellite Technician Jul 2006 – Nov 2007
Mastec The main company that handles all of DirecTV installation and service. They employ a lot of contract companies. Metro Parkway San Antonio TX, 78238
This company is a very demanding job. I had no problem working in a fast pace environment. I was responsible for a company van and had to maintain inventory of equipment that cost over 25,000$. The vans maintenance was managed by me. My responsibility included managing four to eight jobs in a day. Mastec put their trust in me to travel hours outside San Antonio to take care of projects. Minimized service calls after install. Had to uphold Industry standards with satellite quality checks 100% pass. This job was per job pay. So if didn’t manage my time I could have worked the entire day with out making a dime. Very stressful and hard labor is what this industry is all about.
Computer Tech, Customer Service Rep, Supervisor, Satellite Tech Nov 2000 - Jul 2006
EchoStar The parent company of Dish Network. This company has several call centers and installation centers all over the United States. El Paso, TX Harlingen, TX San Antonio, TX
I left the ARMY and jumped right into this business. I started off working with Dish Network customers. I took many different styles of classes in order to handle complex situations. There is many times where people get upset over the phone and dealing with them is a challenge. After only six months I was moved up to supervisor. During this time managed teams of fifteen to forty. This is where I took a basic fundamental class to repair the computers and the system we were working with. Microsoft Server is the OS and I learned how to repair minor computer issues. We also used IP Phones from CISCO. After that I moved with the company to help set up their ninth call center in Harlingen, TX. At that time I was in charge of hiring future CSRs. When we were idle from the work I helped the IT department run CAT5 cable and get our systems online so that I could start training my team. I was the first to volunteer to move there to help with the call center challenges. A year later I was moving to San Antonio, Tx with or without Echostar. They wanted me to stay in their system and offered me a technician position. I worked at the shop In San Antonio for two years and left to explore opening and managing my own contracting company. I really liked Dish Network but they don’t have any Information Technology jobs in the area I want to work.
Multi-Channel Transmission System Operator Jan 1997 – Jan 2001
U.S. ARMY: The mission of the United States army is to deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States of America and its global interest. Fort Jackson, SC Fort Gordon, GA Casey 39er, South Korea DMZ Fort Bliss, TX
I joined the Army for computer networking. The job that they had available was communications. So it was a form of networking with line of site equipment. I stated off at Fort Jackson with basic training. My unit was one of the first to implement basic with females and males integrated. After the training I received I wend to Fort Gordon, GA. This Fort is known for communication training. Their motto “you talk about us but you cant talk with out us”. My first assignment after AIT was South Korea. This is where I had a chance to form a small network for soldiers stationed on Casey 39er. This is a mountain near the North Korea DMZ. There were only nine of us at a time. I was injured and couldn’t do the job I was trained for so they put me on this mountain for ten months of my year stay. On this site we had to manage the communication network of SINGARS. This was a mountain that looked like a bunch of antennas all over it. I was in charge of the night communication. This included retransmissions of communication security software. On our free time I ran several cat5 cables and we formed a network to trade information quickly between all the computers I built for the soldiers to communicate back to the United States. After my time in Asia I was stationed to Fort Bliss, TX. This is where I ran a communication shop for Patriot Launcher Battery.
