Plant Manager for a company of 125 employees with annual sales of $14 million at a manufacturer of upholstered massage and medical furniture. Resigned to relocate back to North Carolina.
Responsible for the entire production output of the plant. Directly managed all departmental production supervisors and also included Receiving, Shipping, Purchasing, Maintenance and Engineering. Developed and implemented spreadsheets to evaluate departmental employee output, efficiencies, and defect rates. Prepared the departmental labor and expense budgets. Designed and generated the AutoCad drawings for the complete layout of a new 80,000 SF manufacturing plant. One year later designed the layout for an 18,000 SF warehouse addition. Overseen all sub-contractors to ensure they were compliant in satisfying the required scope of work for the new facility. Overseen the complete plant relocation to the new facility, which was accomplished in 1 week. Overseen the scheduling and shipping of international orders throughout Europe, Asia and Canada. Implemented Lean Manufacturing processes throughout the production departments, which resulted in a decrease in lead times from order entry to shipping of custom orders from 2 ½ to 3 weeks down to 4 to 6 business days. We even analyzed our consumption rates of the finished product sales and were able to develop an in-stock program of being able to ship popular product out of stock in 24 hours from order entry.
