Objective:
Solid mechanical engineering with emphasis in mechanical design and consumer products development. Able to produce quality work, and manage project from conceptual design, rapid prototyping, product verification/validation to full production under pressure and tight deadlines with minimum supervision.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer – MOTOROLA INC. South Plainfield, NJ 2005 - 2009
• Participated as a member of a cross-functional team successfully delivered Q, Q8 and Q11.
• Developed first-ever glass lens display on Motorola Q phone, with leading edge technologies in anti-splinter film lamination and innovative approach in glass hardness process, under very tight timelines and stringent test requirement, successfully launched Q family phones and no field return associated with lens crack
• Successfully developed SIM card connector with supplier and working proactively on components delivery and solving quality related issues to ensure vendors meeting our production schedule and it became a roadmap connector.
• Developed mechanical PCBs and flex PCB layout thru interfacing with ECAD group and EE team
• Responsible for interconnect and user interface connectors selection, testing and qualification.
• Completed several plastic (& silicone) injection molded parts from initial design concept, drawing detailing, prototyping, testing and evaluation to full production on product Q, Q8, Q11 and Napoleon.
• Performed fit check and tolerance analysis of assembled components.
• Performed in-house accelerate life testing on components/assembly to verify and validate the design intents. ME team liaison for reliability lab related testing issues and provide root cause analysis
• Established great relations with oversea suppliers – Europe and Asia, and especially is able to obtain extra helps from Asian suppliers.

Project Engineer – SIEMENS HEARING INSTRUMENTS, Piscataway, NJ 2002 - 2005
• Designed and managed project for mechanical faceplate/module inserts plastic and maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of development in compliance with FDA regulations.
• Supported existing hearing aid product development, including prototype development of devices, and performed dimension measurement and pull/push force testing and analysis
• Applied Mechanica simulation in the faceplate design to improve the snap/lock feature durability
• Successfully accomplished the design/detailing of e2e digital hearing aid, CORA-T faceplate products from initial product conceptual design, to rapid prototyping, to product inspection and product reliability test, and to product ECO release.
• Interacted with electronic supplier to develop custom design volume controls and push button switch, to ensure the delivery of supplies of services needed to meet scheduled timelines.
• Interfaced with molding house to produce injection-molded parts, and with manufacturing factory to resolve any design related issues.

Member of Technical Staff – LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES, Holmdel, NJ 1998 - 2002
• Completed the design/detailing of telecommunication equipment from sub-racks (shelves) ---Switch, Controller, OSWIF, 2.5G I/O, 10G and Multi-Terabit Switch, to rack (bay) --- all individual closing details; baffle, mounting bracket, cable support, EMC/ESD enclosure for cables.
• Designed sub-racks to meet NEBs level 3 requirements
• Defined interconnection design for circuit cards and assemblies
• Accomplished mechanical backplanes design -- Controller, 2.5G I/O, 10G for Band-Width-Manager, and mechanical mid-plane design -- Multi-Terabit Switch for Lambda-Manager Switch shelf.
• Designed fiber routing guides and cable management bay to accommodate optical and electrical cables.
Member of Technical Staff - PHILIPS AND LUCENT Joint Venture, Piscataway, NJ 1996 - 1998
• Lead Tooling engineer accomplished the tooling designs for cellular phone automation lines --- pallets, solder print jig, label applicator, end of arm tooling, and piece part support trays.

• Accomplished varieties of tooling design for pager manufacturing plant, such as; semi-auto antenna clip cutting tools, solder printing jigs, pick and place devices, crystal re-flow station and some for clean room environment.

• Designed varieties of equipment for material handlings such as; transfers, gates, non-personnel lifts, pallet, lifting devices, overhead trash conveyor, incline/decline conveyor system, cat-walk and also laid out several production lines for IBM manufacturing plants in Boca Raton, FL and Raleigh, NC.
• Designed and installed several customer built conveyors for grocery check-out counter, trash conveyors for Florida Power and Light, and food process conveyor system for bakery.
• Worked closely with in-house manufacturing department for component purchasing, all piece parts fabrication and final installation.
• Started as machinist and ended as chief design engineer.

Skills:
• Pro/Engineer user since 1994 (Part, Assembly, Detailing, Drawing, Sheet Metal, Pro/Surface, Pro/PDM, Pro/Intralink, Wildfire 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0). Experience with Top-down Design approach and large scale of assembly with Pro/E. AutoCad user between 1986 and 1994.
• Familiarity with GD&T and the proper application compliant to ASME Y14.5M-1994.
• Understand ESD and EMC concept, familiar with DFA and DFM.
• Good understanding of Mechanica (Structural and Thermal Simulation with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire)
• Experience in Plastic & sheet metal part design and fabrication processes, such as injection molding, Fit & Finish (painting/NCVM), to support high volume production
• Experience in using Instron instrument to perform material/component tensile and compression test
• Had 3 years machinist training in vocational technical high, very familiar with machine operation, manufacturing process and sheet metal forming process.
• Project Management Professional certified and Microsoft Project 2007 training
• Six Sigma Green Belt training and familiar with MiniTAB (ASQ member and actively pursuing ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification)
