Objective: Solid mechanical engineering with emphasis in mechanical design and consumer products development. Able to produce quality work, and manage project from conceptual design, rapid prototyping, product verification/validation to full production under pressure and tight deadlines with minimum supervision.
Experience: PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer MOTOROLA INC. South Plainfield, NJ 2005 - 2009 Participated as a member of a cross-functional team successfully delivered Q, Q8 and Q11. Developed first-ever glass lens display on Motorola Q phone, with leading edge technologies in anti-splinter film lamination and innovative approach in glass hardness process, under very tight timelines and stringent test requirement, successfully launched Q family phones and no field return associated with lens crack Successfully developed SIM card connector with supplier and working proactively on components delivery and solving quality related issues to ensure vendors meeting our production schedule and it became a roadmap connector. Developed mechanical PCBs and flex PCB layout thru interfacing with ECAD group and EE team Responsible for interconnect and user interface connectors selection, testing and qualification. Completed several plastic (& silicone) injection molded parts from initial design concept, drawing detailing, prototyping, testing and evaluation to full production on product Q, Q8, Q11 and Napoleon. Performed fit check and tolerance analysis of assembled components. Performed in-house accelerate life testing on components/assembly to verify and validate the design intents. ME team liaison for reliability lab related testing issues and provide root cause analysis Established great relations with oversea suppliers Europe and Asia, and especially is able to obtain extra helps from Asian suppliers.
Project Engineer SIEMENS HEARING INSTRUMENTS, Piscataway, NJ 2002 - 2005 Designed and managed project for mechanical faceplate/module inserts plastic and maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of development in compliance with FDA regulations. Supported existing hearing aid product development, including prototype development of devices, and performed dimension measurement and pull/push force testing and analysis Applied Mechanica simulation in the faceplate design to improve the snap/lock feature durability Successfully accomplished the design/detailing of e2e digital hearing aid, CORA-T faceplate products from initial product conceptual design, to rapid prototyping, to product inspection and product reliability test, and to product ECO release. Interacted with electronic supplier to develop custom design volume controls and push button switch, to ensure the delivery of supplies of services needed to meet scheduled timelines. Interfaced with molding house to produce injection-molded parts, and with manufacturing factory to resolve any design related issues.
Member of Technical Staff LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES, Holmdel, NJ 1998 - 2002 Completed the design/detailing of telecommunication equipment from sub-racks (shelves) ---Switch, Controller, OSWIF, 2.5G I/O, 10G and Multi-Terabit Switch, to rack (bay) --- all individual closing details; baffle, mounting bracket, cable support, EMC/ESD enclosure for cables. Designed sub-racks to meet NEBs level 3 requirements Defined interconnection design for circuit cards and assemblies Accomplished mechanical backplanes design -- Controller, 2.5G I/O, 10G for Band-Width-Manager, and mechanical mid-plane design -- Multi-Terabit Switch for Lambda-Manager Switch shelf. Designed fiber routing guides and cable management bay to accommodate optical and electrical cables. Member of Technical Staff - PHILIPS AND LUCENT Joint Venture, Piscataway, NJ 1996 - 1998 Lead Tooling engineer accomplished the tooling designs for cellular phone automation lines --- pallets, solder print jig, label applicator, end of arm tooling, and piece part support trays.
Design Engineer - MOTOROLA, Boynton Beach, FL 1994 - 1996 Accomplished varieties of tooling design for pager manufacturing plant, such as; semi-auto antenna clip cutting tools, solder printing jigs, pick and place devices, crystal re-flow station and some for clean room environment. Design Engineer STAINLESS INC. Deerfield, FL 1993 - 1994 Design Engineer MICRO PNEUMATIC LOGIC, Pompano, FL 1993 Design Engineer JAYSON CONCEPTS, INC. Lake Park, FL 1986 - 1993 Designed varieties of equipment for material handlings such as; transfers, gates, non-personnel lifts, pallet, lifting devices, overhead trash conveyor, incline/decline conveyor system, cat-walk and also laid out several production lines for IBM manufacturing plants in Boca Raton, FL and Raleigh, NC. Designed and installed several customer built conveyors for grocery check-out counter, trash conveyors for Florida Power and Light, and food process conveyor system for bakery. Worked closely with in-house manufacturing department for component purchasing, all piece parts fabrication and final installation. Started as machinist and ended as chief design engineer.
