PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE
Transmission and Fluid Equipment, Fort Wayne, IN; industrial distributor and processor of hoses and fittings. Primary markets include fork truck manufacturer, food processor, automotive and agricultural manufacturers, machine shops, and a municipality. Company offers assembly of hydraulic hose fittings, brake and shifter cables, brazing of steel tubing fittings, and pipe bending. Company sells rubber, thermoplastic, and stainless steel hoses, electric motors, belts, reducers, conveyor belting and air brake tubing. Products are sold to both retail and wholesale customers generating annual sales of $10MM. Company employs approximately thirty- seven employees at two locations.
Assistant to Operations Manager, 2001 - Present
• Assigned to various positions and projects within the company to address production, quality control, inventory control, and product return issues and promote sales.
• Supervise two team leaders and seven machine operators in building 200 different types of stocked thermoplastic hoses and those for special applications. Prioritize production runs and schedule. Monitor quality and oversee pre-shipment processes.
• Utilized micrometers and calipers as a Quality Technician. Checked both cosmetic features and external/internal threads. Contacted vendors regarding inferior components and arranged for returns and replacements. Maintained records on crimping process failures.
• Managed the product returns function. Evaluated returned goods to determine cause of return and if restocking fee applied and/or credit given. Determined if product had been modified or used or if customer was purging their own inventory. Set up a product return code program in the Tribute Distribution Software to target monthly return trends. Also tracked internal scrap.
• Counted physical inventory. Reconciled physical to computer inventory working with the purchasing agent. Determined cause of negative part orders and reconciled. Checked for incorrect part numbers and bin locations and corrected.
• Worked as an Inside Sales Representative. Answered telephone and assisted customers in selecting the right component for their unique application. Utilized technical manuals to research component specifications. Priced components to ensure optimum margins based primarily on sales volume.
• Trained and led employees in various operations.
• Assigned to special projects by Operations Manager.
• Drove company's Freightliner as needed. Worked in production for a short time prior to promotion to the inside sales position.
