Managed all operations for one of two shifts within department including personnel issues of assignments to stations, job assignments, and adequate staffing; maintained a level of readiness for emergencies. Provided oversight as incident commander at emergency scenes, directing fire personnel, assisting outside agencies, and mutual aid departments. Assisted with vehicle and equipment maintenance and appropriate documentation.
Key Accomplishments:
* Enabled staff to take lead roles in projects, assignments, and routine incidents and then provided positive feedback. Resulted in improved moral and enhanced rapport.
* Implemented additional training processes to further develop staff. Taught advanced training in Hazardous Materials, Incident Command, and Emergency Medical Response.

Directed department's public image by making public appearances, attending media events, and conducting multimedia presentations. Acted as purchasing director, writing specifications with authority to approve all purchases.
Key Accomplishments:
* Worked closely with Mayor and other department leaders to trim budgets, procure additional funding, and develop solutions to perform necessary functions during an $800K budget shortfall. Resulted in no loss of services. Additionally, negotiated an agreement to provide emergency medical response at no additional cost to taxpayers.
* Spearheaded the reactivation of the county Fire Chief's Association, serving as the chair person. Association created a conduit for dissemination of information from state and national agencies to all fire departments in Daviess County, improving operational excellence.
* Instituted plan to replace antiquated and failing equipment with modern technology using grant funding. New technology included computers, radio, response and personal protective equipment. Total expenditures approximately $180K, with $110K being from grants awarded.
* Implemented new program to improve the performance of fire inspections in public buildings. Designated two certified inspectors to perform inspections with new processes and accountability.
* Developed comprehensive strategic plan covering both short and long term planning for department, encompassing personnel, equipment, vehicles and fixed asset needs.
* Expanded prevention programs for all age groups to increase public awareness and safety.
* Established Emergency Medical Protocols for department that were adopted by all fire departments in Daviess and Martin Counties.
* Assisted in coordinating efforts to provide police and fire protection to a new retail shopping facility outside the jurisdictional boundary of the city. Increased public exposure for the department and generated additional revenues for the city.

I am proficient in computer use including MSOffice, data base, and presentation applications.


Additional Information:
I am in the process of relocating to Jacksonville, Florida from Indiana. I frequently travel between the two states. Our belongings are presently in Florida but I am completing my career in Indiana and living with family while here. I am available for interviews and other business visits with minimal notice.
