Objective:
Proven Manager seeking a senior position in Operations Management where my broad based experience and skills will contribute to corporate bottom line and personal career growth. Experienced in multi-plant manufacturing, packaging and distribution operations in the chemical and industrial packaging industries; proficiencies include Team Building, ISO-9001:2000 systems and Lean Manufacturing/Six-Sigma program development and implementation. Established abilities in expense and capital budget preparation and control and experienced in purchasing and contract negotiations with major labor unions and raw material, logistics and utilities suppliers from the local to the international level.


Experience:
PLANT MANAGER– (Feb. 1999 to March 2009) - Managed all operations at the Woodbridge NJ metal drum plant. With total operations headcount of 98 working in a 120,000 square foot facility and an annual operating budget of approximately $32,000,000 we produce 55 gallon steel drums accounting for annual sales of $44,000,000 (1,700,000 units) in a $275,000,000 company.

• Management of Change - Introduced Lean Manufacturing to the Woodbridge facility. We reduced raw material and in-process inventory, improved housekeeping and organization, shortened changeover time and improved manufacturing processes. This has resulted in a 35% improvement in productivity over the last three years while reducing cost per unit on a comparable basis.
• Human Resources - Negotiated the first two five year contacts with United Steelworkers of America Local. This was accomplished by establishing an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect in the plant where grievances were mostly eliminated and continuous improvement in our product and processes was a way of life.
• Supply Chain - Key involvement with Corporate Purchasing Team including renegotiation of dedicated fleet contract, steel ring supply for all poly and steel plants and coatings and fittings for the metal division. Independently negotiated all utility purchases, exterior coatings and steel purchases in the northeast.
• Safety and Regulatory - Established Regulatory compliance program, bringing facility back into conformity with all State and Federal requirements cutting outside consulting costs by $100,000. Upgraded safety program, forming effective safety committee and reducing OSHA reportable injuries by 30%.
• Leadership – Was selected for a multi-plant assignment to the poly drum division, managing the shut down of two facilities and integrating the expanded roles of two former Mauser USA plants during the transition period following the formation of Mauser Corp.
• Financial – Managed capital and expense budgets for the facility with final 2008 results coming in at 2.5 times budgeted EBITDA. Controlled plant headcount and expense spending to match up with volume through the plant to achieve these exceptional results. Maintained cost per unit and overall dollar control during times of increasing and decreasing sales.
GREIF BROS. CORPORATION

PLANT MANAGER — (Feb 1996 to Feb 1999) - Managed all operations at the 180,000 square foot site, with two operating production lines manufacturing three styles of fiber drums. Responsible for control of annual operating budget of $14,500,000 accounting for annual sales of $21,000,000 (1,500,000 units) in a multi-billion dollar corporation
• Improved plant key performance measures including productivity, spoilage, change over time and complaint response time. Decreased inventory by 20%, resulting in savings of over $320,000. Improved customer service, as measured by successful delivery program, from 89.5% in 1996 to 97.4% in 1997
• Upgraded employee suggestion program by providing rapid feed back to all suggestions, resulting in a 30% improvement in implemented suggestions per employee.
• Implemented cost reduction program resulting in documented savings of over $100,000 in 1997.
PILOT CHEMICAL COMPANY
Avenel, New Jersey

PLANT MANAGER - (Nov. 1990 to Feb. 1996) - Directed all operations in detergent manufacturing plant. Three shift, five-day operation, including quality system, production, maintenance & engineering, quality control, warehousing and shipping, customer service, training and regulatory compliance.
• Directed development and implementation the plant's quality system and achieved ISO-9002 certification.
• Managed annual capital and expense budgets. Responsible for the development of the plant five year plan for capital expenditures to coordinate with long range sales and marketing goals.
• Directly manage facility's regulatory compliance program to provide for compliance with multiple state and federal regulations including OSHA, NJ TCPA, Spill Act, Hazardous Waste, Pollution Prevention, Stormwater, BUST and NJ Air Permitting statutes. Reduced compliance costs through elimination of UST's and 50% of facilities air permits by improved knowledge of the regulations.

South River, New Jersey
PLANT MANAGER - (Jan. 1987 to Oct. 1990) - Responsible for all plant operations; reported directly to company president. I managed all personnel in production, warehousing, quality control and administrative office.
• Started-up facility, designing and directing contractors on facility retrofit needed for processing and storage of Food Grade products. Coordinated all required licensing and operating permits. Established office, warehouse and operating procedures, sourced operating and laboratory equipment supplies and insurance. Hired and trained all personnel.
