Waste Management of Pennsylvania, Inc. 1984-2009
Area Environmental Protection Manager, 2005-2009 Environmental Manager responsible for one of the largest regional waste management facilities in the United States. Annual revenues of $150 million.
• Key team player providing guidance and technical expertise to Customers, Sales, Marketing, Operations and Senior Leadership at highly visible, highly regulated facility.
• Consistently exceeded environmental compliance goals while reducing capital expenditures.
• Directed multiple NPDES permits and renewals for stormwater and wastewater. Renewals were strategically prepared to support the facilities ability to accept a wide range on industrial, non-hazardous wastes in addition saving the company approximately $50,000.
• Obtained increase in permitted NPDES discharge limit for Total Dissolved Solids, resulting in cost avoidance of $500,000 and annual savings of $100,000.
• Directed USEPA/PADEP “Delisting” approval for captive RCRA Part B industrial wastewater treatment facility filtercake. The approval enabled filtercake to be managed as a non- hazardous waste with disposal on site instead of managed as a hazardous waste and transported off-site to a hazardous waste treatment facility. The approval resulted in annual savings of approximately $300,000.
• Team Leader responsible for the development and implementation of a national Environmental Awareness Training program.
• Partnered with Safety Director to develop regional health and safety training.
• Planned budgeting of ongoing operations and long term facility planning.
Market Area Environmental Protection Manager - 2000-2004 • Responsibilities for all aspects of environmental compliance for Market Area, which included 35 facilities throughout the state of Pennsylvania. • Initiated the Electronic Waste Acceptance approval process establishing a paperless waste disposal application process, greatly reducing customer approval time.
Compliance Manager - 1991-1999 • Responsible for all aspects environmental compliance at two major landfill facilities.
• Authored and obtained permit approval for an overall Waste Analysis Plan, greatly reducing waste acceptance approval times and establishing a defined process for expedited waste acceptance approvals. This strategically significant approval enabled Special Waste approval program to grow to $25,000,000. annual revenue.
Technical Services Manager - 1990-1991 • Position was created to utilize my unique skills to maximize revenue growth. Successfully increased revenue growth by 110%.
• Responsible for Site Laboratory and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Laboratory Manager - 1987-1991 • Responsible for waste approval program and monitoring of site Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Laboratory Technician - 1984-1987 • Responsible for site environmental monitoring.
