Executive, General Manager, PRECEPT MEDICAL PRODUCTS, USA/Mexico Border, 2000 to 2005. I reported directly to the Vice President of Operations of a 350-employee manufacturer of medical disposable products, surgical drapes and packages. The operation had one plant on the American side of the border and two in Mexico. I was responsible for managing the daily activities of the operation.
Reduced the monthly average turnover ratio from 16% in 1999 to 7.8% in 2000 and has remained at single digits ever since. Established a new manufacturing facility in the interior of Mexico 50 miles south of the international border. Negotiated labor union contract in 2002 resulting on 5.24% increase cost compare to 18% increment on prior negotiation.
Consultant, Manufacturing Engineering, 1999 to 2000. I was independently employed as a senior manufacturing engineer providing technical support to several companies. . Incentive systems and bonus programs revision and provided recommendations for improvement. Assistance on supervision and technical support at two manufacturing locations at Puebla, Mexico helping to achieve productivity and quality goals.
Operations Director, Winer Industries Inc., USA/Mexico Border, 1983 to 1999. I reported directly to the General Manager. I managed a 250-employee operation dedicated to production of high quality women’s apparel such as constructed jackets skirts and pants. I provided P&L accountability for production, scheduling, quality assurance, warehouse, and maintenance.
After one year of service promoted from Division Engineering Manager to Operations Director. Implemented piece rate incentive system and bonus program resulting in substantial productivity increases Established a multistyle manufacturing operation and became a leading facility able to handle an average of 15 styles of garments per week.
Operations Director, Manhattan Surgical Co., Laredo, Texas, 1977 to 1983. I was a Senior Executive contracting for Johnson&Johnson. I managed all the activities at the American Plant responsible for production, scheduling, engineering, rate administration and personnel. I coordinated the sewing and cutting operations supplying enough work for two manufacturing plants on the Mexican side of the border.
Implemented production incentive system improving and optimizing manufacturing operations. Negotiated three union contracts providing satisfactory settlements for company and employees.
Director, Manufacturing Engineering, Irvine Industries Inc., Nogales, Arizona, 1972 to 1977. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineering executive, I managed 6 engineers and provided technical support for two US/Mexico manufacturing locations.
Implemented and maintained operators training program. Analyzed work methods that kept operator’s efficiency constantly improving. Tracked material and labor costs reporting variances between estimated and actual production expenses.
Early Career History: Following completion of college, I began my professional career as Process Engineer with Motorola de Mexico, 1970 to 1971. I was responsible for design and implementation of production systems at Die Bond Operation. I used Work Factor Engineering methods to determine effective production standards.
