CUSTOMER AND PARTNER EXPERIENCE LEAD, LATIN AMERICA

Joined technology giant based on extensive experience and a strong professional network in Latin America, fluency in multiple languages, and success in sales and government relations. Spearhead Latin American Microsoft partner and customer index of satisfaction initiatives and reinforce strong relationships among Microsoft and Latin America partners to drive annual sales. Major activities involve leading multi-country cross-functional projects and initiatives to boost customer satisfaction/index levels, communicating with customers to understand their needs, and conducting annual customer index surveys and other surveys to monitor customer satisfaction levels.

• Introduced new processes to handle government contracts for Latin American customers representing $180+ million in annual business.

Merged extensive experience in Latin America and deep knowledge of the markets and investors, potential partners, and end-users to provide consulting services. Capitalized on marketing accomplishments and operations experience to work with biotechnology companies. Hired to start-up a new region, create an operational infrastructure, secure licenses, hire staff, and develop new business. Selected for leadership role based on knowledge of the telecommunications industry, Latin America background, and relationships with principal players in the industry and with Latin American government officials.

Presided over a $150 million sales and marketing organization covering Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru, and led ambitious team that sold fiber optic products, wholesale broadband, and hosting services. Primary activities included Latin America sales leadership, operations, general business management, Profit & Loss management, multi-million dollar contract negotiations, public relations, international affairs, government relationships, and new business development.

• Instrumental in delivering $62 million in revenue in the first year and growing annual sales to 18%.
• Gained a 30% market share in Venezuela and 20% market share in Peru which contributed to rapid sales growth.

• Played a major role in winning a high-profile legal battle that enabled company to maintain cable operations in Argentina. Legal issue also involved dealing with union representatives.

• Met with President Menem of Argentina and regulators and owners of a cable company and the Cisneros Group. Lobbied the government to win a license which helped purchase a $120 million company.
• Secured media coverage and gained access to the government during a coup in Venezuela during 1992. Met with Dr. Henry Kissinger, Luciano Benetton, Forbes Brothers, and others who promoted a democratic message internationally.

AT&T, Venezuela 1994 to 1997

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS DIRECTOR, Andean Region

• Instrumental in having a telecom policy reversed in favor of AT&T and its operations in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia which saved a $40 million market.
• Led a successful public relations campaign following the death of 50 people caused by AT&T subcontractors. Helped AT&T maintain its operations in the region and saved $50 million.
• Repatriated over $35 million from control exchange Latin country to US and established relationships with leaders of five Andean governments.
