Experience: 12 years of exempt-level Human Resources experience in manufacturing in union and non-union environments with employee populations of 200-3,465.Fluent in Spanish. Extensive experience in employee relations, including investigations, disciplines up to and including termination, answering employees' questions and resolving problems, representing the company in unemployment hearings, leading employee and management retention teams. Labor relations, including union grievances, and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Recruiting, interviewing and hiring hourly production and supervisory employees; safety and ergonomics, training via PowerPoint on labor laws and company policies and procedures, updating policy and procedure manuals, training new supervisors in company policies, new hire orientation, compiling reports and delivering information in weekly management staff meetings.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri
Skills: Fluent in Spanish, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), HRIS systems (PeopleSoft, Lawson, KRONOS, in-house systems). Solid working knowledge of employment and labor laws and guidelines, including AAP/EEOC, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, ADEA, NLRA, OSHA, Title VII, USERRA, HIPPA and COBRA.
Additional Information: Reduced the OSHA recordable and employee turnover rates by over 50% while with Tyson/IBP in Boise, Idaho. Helped reduce the annual number of union grievances by over 400 per year while with JBS Swift & Company in Cactus, Texas. Won over 80% of unemployment hearings while at JBS Swift & Company. Led the HR team that updated the corporate and represented employee handbooks and updated the North Ice Cream Plant's incident investigation procedure while with Wells' Dairy, Inc. in LeMars, Iowa.
