Plant Manager, Arnco Corporation, Graniteville, South Carolina 2000-2007 Responsible for all plant operations to include Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality, Shipping and Receiving, Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, Plant level accounting as well as Human Resources and Staff requirements, in high volume Extrusion facility, servicing the telecommunications, gas, water and electrical industries. Financial responsibilities included P&L, Product development, Machinery appropriations, Monthly budgets and forecasted long term spending and ROI evaluations. Reporting to the President and owner of the corporate organization. Was recruited from largest competitor for start-up of new state of the art factory in South Carolina. The South Carolina facility became the most productive and profitable plant in the organization in year one of operations.
Plant Manager, Dura-Line Corporation, Middlesboro, Kentucky 1996-2000 Responsible for all facets of daily plant operation in high volume Multi-Plant Extrusion facilities. Took control of facility after a threatened Union Strike and had ZERO quality rejects at shipments for entire year. This facility now has the best on-time record within the entire organization. Reporting to the President of the corporate organization, with dotted line of report to the V.P. of Operations. Was recruited back to this organization by its parent company based off past success. Achieved record success within this plant in Scrap, GPPH, and overall productivity. Employee levels have increased by 120% to 180 employees with 16 direct subordinates. Acted as start-up Manager for the U.S. as well as Malaysian facilities.
Plant Manager, ITW, Incorporated, Hartsville, South Carolina 1995-1996 Responsible for entire plant operations to include Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality, Customer Service, Maintenance, Shipping and Receiving as well as all Staffing requirements. Financial responsibilities included P&L, Machinery appropriations, Monthly budgets and forecasted long term spending. Employing approximately 56 employees and directly managing a staff of 10. Accomplishments include record sales for year ending 1995, 75% reduction in lost time accidents, 43% fewer quality complaints, and implementation of phase 1 of ISO 9002. Product line limited to Extruded Plastic Edgeboard.
Plant Manager, Dura-Line Corporation, Middlesboro, Kentucky 1992-1995 Responsible for all daily activities including Production, Quality, Shipping and Receiving. In February 1994, this plant reached its highest production record, as well as its lowest scrap rate in thirty months. As a result, employees received their first bonuses in three years. Also overseeing a $480,000 plant expansion during this time. Achieved ISO 9000 certification in May 1995.
Plant Production Manager, Dura-Line, Middlesboro, Kentucky 1991-1992 Direct supervision of all plant level employees (seventy employees, three shifts, seven days per week). Heavy emphasis on scrap reduction, thereby decreasing Quality department rejections. Promoted to acting Plant Manager in November 1993. Product line was extruded fiber-optic ducting and all sizes of underground and aerial conduits.
Department Manager, Standard Products Co., Winnsboro, South Carolina 1989-1991 Responsible for direct supervision of 68 employees, including 2 supervisors. Accountable for all molding department operations from raw materials to finished product, scheduled second and third shift production, and lead continuous improvement and SPC groups. Reduced scrap from 28% to 6% while increasing labor performance form 50% to 78% and reducing workforce form 106 to 68. Increased SPC audit rating from 48% to 89% while decreasing final audit reject rate from 18% to 1%, thereby achieving a reject rate of 48 parts per million. Served as liaison to Ford Motor in Louisville, KY and Lorain, OH for quality concerns and complaints. Products included extruded body trim and injection molded body side molding.
