Community Liaison
Duties Include: Developing and implementing training curriculum to the new staff. Ensuring that the senior staff meets their ongoing training requirements. Researching and presenting various information regarding child protective issues to community agencies throughout the county depending on their needs. Topics include: Mandated reporting, effects of child abuse, and shaken baby syndrome. I interview potential new employees, check references, and assist in their supervision over the first 6 months of employment. I also interview and oversee the interns that we take on from various colleges and universities throughout the year ensuring that they get the experience, hours and time they are required to have to fulfill their requirements. I handle complaints that come in. I also answer questions that the general public calls in with.

Duties Include: Working with families and their children on improving child welfare issues found to be in the home, investigating reports of abuse or maltreatment, screening calls coming into the local hotline, achieving permanency for the children in care, and working with families to ensure that children are safe at all times. The other duties of this position include completing all paperwork on time, keeping supervisor informed of case issues, and making required monthly contacts.
Additional Duties: There were additional requirements for me as I was part of a pilot project. We were responsible for reporting the changes we make within the unit to administration, implementing and testing new ways of doing things, attending regularly scheduled meetings to discuss changes, and focusing on the team approach.
