Charged with hiring the original leadership and administrative team (DCS, DQM, Chief Pharmacist, others) and team development and training. Responsible for physician relations and contracting. Recruited medical director and developed medical leadership body (Medical Executive Committee). Recruited the original admitting and consulting medical staff. Began referral market development, including managed care contracting. Responsible for LTACH and Host-Hospital relations and interface. Redesigned Case Management Model from passive discharge planners to proactive, aggressive Case Management/Utilization Review driven model. Coordinated over $800K in capital purchases (new specialty beds, ventilators, nurse call system, phone system, cardiac monitor system, and various minor construction projects, etc.). Piloted facility through transition from Tefra to LTC-PPS, March 2003 (increase to EBIDTA by >$1,000,000). Piloted facility through very first JCAHO survey, December 2003 (with completely inexperienced Leadership & Dept Head staff); Final Score 91. Reduced Nursing Agency utilization by recruiting FT RNs from 19 to 33 in one year (current agency average: < 245 nursing hours per month). Oversee all facility financials, managing $17.7M in revenues and $12.1M in expenses; 2003 EBITDA of over $1.75M. Oversee all vendor, physician and commercial contracts.
