Additional Information: I am a currently a law clerk for the Honorable Barry P. Sarkisian, in Superior Court of New Jersey (Criminal Division). I am seeking an Associate position for fall 2008. I am a Temple University Beasley School of Law graduate and am an admitted attorney in New York and New Jersey. I see myself working for the right employment and immigration law firm in the near future because I know from first-hand experience that this work will be thrilling challenge for me to represent and in turn serve employees in discrimination, executive compensation, and immigration (H1-B visa) cases. As the voice piece for those who cannot be heard, I seek to empower these victims to receive the rights they actually deserve.
Through repeated advocacy drills first as a Summer Associate at Outten & Golden (O&G) and now more prominently clerking for Judge Sarkisian, I speak succinctly and effectively. At O&G, I assisted senior attorneys in deposing witnesses and interviewing immigrant clients in a wage-hour compensation case in the restaurant industry. At Temple Law, I argued on the appellate level at the Kaufman Securities Regulations Moot Court Competition. In addition, I articulate my position and reasoning before the Judge before he makes a decision. Through this rigorous practice, I am developing the ability to confidently think on my feet which will serve me well when representing the interest of employees in administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations and motion practice.
I have also gained a strong writing ability as a law clerk for a Superior Court Judge. In this capacity, I manage a caseload of 200 active cases where I draft memos for the Judge concerning pre-trial motions, evidentiary hearings, opinions and proposed jury charges for criminal trials. Moreover, working directly under the tutelage of a Judge, I have honed in on writing for a target audience and isolating the key issues involved in a case.
Through hands-on opportunities, I have acquired a combination of practical skills and multifaceted experience that make me well-qualified for this position. Beyond the classroom, I also received the Samuel Gomez Public Service Scholarship for initiating a mentorship program between Temple Law students and children from Trevor’s Place, a local homeless shelter. I sincerely appreciate your taking time to review my qualifications and I look forward to hearing from you. You can reach me at (215) 939-2630 or rolikhare@gmail.com.
