Shortly after commencing her career as a hairdresser in 1989, Dawn used her strong business acumen to pivot from behind the chair to the business side, where she handled all aspects of salon management, including budgets, marketing activities and salon promotions In 1991, she began representing haircare manufacturer John Paul Mitchell Systems, onstage and in the classroom as an educator, where she quickly established herself as a highly respected artist, sharing her creative expertise and technical artistry. Soon thereafter, Dawn transitioned into the important role of Artistic Coordinator for the San Diego-based Mainline Distributors, where she worked hand-in-hand with owner and acclaimed hairdressing talent Jeannie Braa, organizing and conducting Paul Mitchell Advanced Academies, refining the educational curriculum and offerings and conducting new hire training for education team members.
In 1995, Dawn joined the San Diego A Robert Cromeans Salon Team, working alongside gifted businessman and platform artist Robert Cromeans, first as a hairdresser and show coordinator and later as executive assistant. Her role in the entrepreneurial organization involved managing travel schedules, presiding over complex calendars, and overseeing involvement in every aspect of trade shows from load-in to sales.
