1989- Barrus Associates – Farmington, CT Present Independent Consultant – Provide consulting services to a wide variety of public and private sector clients including: CT Housing Finance Authority, United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Aetna, Inc., and Tenet Healthcare. Projects include design, development, and delivery of curriculums, classroom and web-based learning initiatives, and detailed business case studies, in-depth organizational need and gap analysis, creation of performance-based assessments, process improvement initiatives, design and facilitation of strategic planning sessions, and conference planning.
Project Management: Consulted with senior leaders of a national, medical corporation located in Texas to design an HR conference for over 500 employees. Created a complex case study to increase participants’ business knowledge and conducted a train the trainer for presenters and facilitators.
Consulted with senior leaders and Board of Directors of a quasi-public state agency to identify organizational issues leading to poor employee performance and customer service. Conducted internal and external customer interviews, and detailed process mapping sessions. Facilitated leadership retreat to identify organizational values, behaviors and competencies. Designed value-driven process improvements, implementation strategy, and comprehensive curriculum for enhancing organizational and individual performance. 1991 - Aetna Inc. - Hartford, CT 2007 Senior Performance and Learning Consultant – As an internal and external Consultant, provided strategic business consulting to strengthen organizational performance and build talent through focused learning initiatives. Comprehensive duties include senior level performance consulting, organizational and performance gap assessments, alignment of performance and results, strategy implementation, project and people management, and design, development and delivery of curriculum and performance-based programs and solutions for all employees. Work in a cooperative, consultative manner with all levels of management and employees. Serve as a creative facilitator and coach.
Project Management: Team Leader for the creation of a computer-based orientation program for Aetna’s learning management system. Created storyboards, detailed scenario-based simulations, and evaluation mechanisms, partnered with web program designers and subject matter experts, and performed continuous quality assessments. Managed a team of eight cross-functional members. Program delivered on time and within budget. Senior Project Consultant for the design, development and delivery of over 50 national learning curriculums and initiatives for Aetna’s Senior Leadership, Sales, Health Delivery, Group Insurance, Financial and Human Resources organizations. Performed competency and skill gap assessments and closed the performance gaps with creative, interactive performance-based learning interventions. Recently completed design, development and delivery of educational conference to enhance performance of sales force responsible for marketing Medicare D programs and enrolling individual and group members. Team Member responsible for the creation and implementation of Aetna’s Balanced Scorecard, a performance measurement and management system. Developed organizational and individual metrics, identified behaviors required to achieve desired business results, designed training materials and helped design a web site to educate employees on the new performance tool.
