Group Manager: Envioroment Health and Safety Emhart Corporation in Farmington, CT January 1981 to January 1985 [*] Responsible for environmental compliance and training at seven capacitor, timers, and electronic assembly plants and senior executives [*] Developed and supervised industrial hygiene sampling, environmental sampling, monitoring, reporting, and record keeping systems throughout the Group [*] Implemented industrial recycling program that eliminated disposal costs and reduced cost of solvents. [*] Created highly efficient barge loading and unloading methods, facilities, and permitted a barge terminal permit from the US Army Corps of Engineers within 9 months of Hurricane Katrina. [*] Designed unique elevated debris disposal facility protected by a double levee system and recognized as the most unique, efficient, and safe facility of its kind in Louisiana. [*] Initiated program to recover automobile parts by largest automotive parts supplier in the U.S. [*] Implemented turn-key recycling operation recovering ferrous metals from automobiles, white goods, and commercial buildings as well as creating wood pulp for local paper mills. [*] Developed high level of support within the Louisiana Senate and House of Representatives as well as other elected and appointed officials. [*] Transporting debris in debris is exceptionally efficient compared to hauling over the road or by rail. Using barges also eliminated the damage to highways and bridges by the tens of thousands of tractor trailers hauling over the road.
